Access control not working

Post by rgtr » Sun Mar 31, 2024 10:19 am

Hi
I am creating a web site where I want articles to be restricted to being viewed by people who have registered on the site only.

Currently I have the login page disabled, and in any event have the flag in system settings users: Allow User Registration set to NO, and the New User Registration Group and Guest User Group both set to "Registered".
The article's access is set to "Registered".
The menu item access is also set to "Registered"

Yet when I access the web site from a different browser, even on a different machine - it shows . . .

https://tdocplus.co.uk/01_ROPA/index.ph ... ve-summary

I hate to say it but when I first added the menu item the access restriction worked.

This is a a new J-503 installation.
I have used Akeeba's Admin Tools but to no effect

Richard

I don't believe you have set the permissions correctly.

All you need to do is set the menu items, and articles to "registered". I'm not sure what, or why you have changed "New User Registration Group" or "Guest User Group".

Because you set Guest User Group to "Registered", Users that are not logged in will see the content. It should be set to Guest which is a sibling group to Registered under Public.

Thanks a million.
