Site admin throws a System Error

Hi, my website loads fine, however today I went to login to load the recent upgrade and I get an orange/red page with an error message. Here are the results of FPA, however they don't look right. The site works so the PHP error is misleading.

In the admin logs I see this error:

Maybe that is not correct, I don't see why J5.x would not be supported on PHP 8.3.

You're using https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/n1ed/ and it doesn't indicate J5 compatible not even "J5 - compatibility plugin", although its last update listed on JED indicates December 2023. N1ED seems to be a fork of TinyMCE so again, not seeing why it would not work with J5 (given TinyMCE is the default editor for Joomla, and has been for many years). Other than that one 3rd party extension, the FPA seems to report a clean install, apart from some questionable file permissions (775 instead of 755).

Is it hard to uninstall NED without access to admin pages? If there are some instructions to do that I might start there, as it seems like a likely solution, and I will have to hunt to find out how to do a stack trace.

Disable it in phpmyadmin extensions table. Don't worry about the file permissions as you are on a localhost using windows and that is normal.

Hi,

Thanks for all the advice I have received.

I disabled NE1D in the database and nothing changed. Then I removed the files, again nothing changed, so I have put them back and done a stack trace. I'm not sure how to best show the output. I have tried to put the source code in an attachment, but that was rejected. I have now added a screenshot of it. Please advise the most useful way to share this progress.

Looks like upgrade to 5.0 went bad. If you have CLI access, run maintenance:database command.

I have cPanel access, or I can ask the server administrator to run something. Where do I find the command to run? Linux isn’t my strong suit !

You need to execute Joomla's cli/joomla.php file from PHP CLI. Normally the command should look like this "php path/to/joomla/cli/joomla.php maintenance:database". In some cases PHP command may unavailable so you may have to prepend full path to PHP executable. It depends on your hosting. Best ask your host or read their documentation.

Currently the hosting company is running joomla.php database:maintenance. I’ll update when it is done.

Hi,
Hmmm that was a typo on my part . They have finished and the output is below. I can see 2 things.

• the upgrade from 4 to 5 didn't complete properly and I still have a 4.4 db
• I compounded the problem by putting the 5.1 version of joomla.php there

Is there any chance the 5.0 version of joomla.php would actually upgrade the database and make everything consistent? If not then I'll do a clean install and create the pages again. There aren't many pages and the website all works so I have a reference to start from.

I forgot to mention that you need to pass --fix option to actually fix the structure: "php cli/joomla.php maintenance:database --fix".

Thanks, I might try that. In the mean time I have re-built the content (it was pretty small). Hopefully I learn that the database can be fixed.

Your server has some problems after an upgrade of php 8.2->8.3

Session Path is not writable on the server and points to the folder for 8.2. Have your host fix this.
