Update 5.0.3 to 5.1

Post by J_NZ » Sun Apr 21, 2024 7:32 am

When I try to update from backend the Requird Settings show Database Table Structure Up To Date as 'No'

When I navigate to System-Maintenance-Database it shows 'No matching results' and the Update Structure button is greyed-out.

This is a clean Bitnami appliance on VMWare 6.0 running Debian 11.

Any help greatfully appreciated.

I am seeing the same thing on a bitnami installaiton of Joomla 5. Except that I see no way to navigate to "System-Maintenance-Database ".

From the system dashboard I see no "maintenance" link. So I am stuck with no way to update the database as suggested in the update check page.

Thanks Yngve.

After using the link I discovered that the system-maintenance-database link was there all the time. I was looking for a "maintenance" link in the system page.

So now I have the same problem as J_NZ. Except that I do see the akeeba backup entry in the list.

However checking it and clicking on update structure button get me nowhere. I still see the following error message when I click on the button that says 5.1.0 is available:

"Warning: Undefined array key 0 in /bitnami/joomla/administrator/components/com_joomlaupdate/src/Model/UpdateModel.php on line 1349

Warning: Trying to access array offset on value of type null in /bitnami/joomla/administrator/components/com_joomlaupdate/src/Model/UpdateModel.php on line 1352"

I don't see any path from there. I've looked a the PHP fil mentioned in the message, but as expected I have no clue why $model->getItems()[0] is not set.

Have you checked the Update Sites List?

5.0.2 to 5.1
Note that J5.0.2 has an issue with the Pre-update check. It says there are no extensions installed eventhough you (may) have. And displays a green checkmark even if there are extensions that may have issues.

Update to 5.0.3 first.

I'm having similar problems, I've been unable to update for several months and I've been hoping that there would be a manual upgrade package from 5.0.3 to 5.1, but there's only from 4.4 to 5.1.
Has this issue been resolved yet? What happens if I install a new 5.1 on top of 5.0.3? That's going to crash the website or at least remove all info right? What is the best thing to do without rebuilding the whole website?

Not true. The following update package is for "updates from Joomla! 4.4 and previous 5.x releases to 5.1.0":
Joomla! Downloads - Download Joomla! 5.1.0

Joomla does not support update by overwriting the filesystem. If you try to do that, the website will have issues sooner or later.

But then can we use the update 4.4 to 5.1 even if website is 5.0.3? Because it's very confusing that it doesn't mention it on the dwl page (I see it's be said above but need re-confirmation as it isn't mentioned on dwl page)

Yes, you can use the update package for 5.1 to update from Joomla 4.4 to Joomla 5.1. Follow this tutorial: Joomla 4.4.x to 5.x Planning and Upgrade Step by Step

Have I misunderstood? It looks like you are saying we can upgrade from 4.4 to 5.1, but nothing about upgrading from 5.0.3 to 5.1.

Go to the “System” page (link on left-hand side-bar in Atom template) and theres a link to “Update Sites” in the “Updates” module.

Click and you will, by default, bee a link of active/enabled update sites that is checked at various times. Click on “Filter Options” and select “disabled”. You can reenable any there by selecting them then enabling them under the “Actions' button.

I am currently on 5.0.3 and am seeing the error message I shared above when I click on the update. I've downloaded the upgrade package suggested by toivo. I've also read the upgrade planing doc he suggested. Now what. How do I apply the upgrade package?

I am afraid that the php error I am seeing will prevent any upgrade.

Can someone please specifically addtress the error message I am seeing when I click on "5.1.0 available, update now" link on the dashboard.

Here it is again:

"Warning: Undefined array key 0 in /bitnami/joomla/administrator/components/com_joomlaupdate/src/Model/UpdateModel.php on line 1349

Warning: Trying to access array offset on value of type null in /bitnami/joomla/administrator/components/com_joomlaupdate/src/Model/UpdateModel.php on line 1352"

Plesk Obsidian Web Host Edition 18.0.60 #1
PHP 8.2.19
FPM - Apache

Joomla 5.0.3
Update to 5.1.1

The same thing happens to me as the user who started this thread and also...

When entering the joomla update page it shows this error and is left thinking about verifying the extensions:

Warning: Undefined array key 0 in .../httpdocs/administrator/components/com_joomlaupdate/src/Model/UpdateModel.php on line 1349

Warning: Trying to access array offset on value of type null in .../httpdocs/administrator/components/com_joomlaupdate/src/Model/UpdateModel.php on line 1352

in the error log:
(I have removed the domain url)
