Yes, I think so.
See: https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/is ... -125494610
And when you submit PRs (Pull Requests, patches) they are checked against PHP7.

I cant get it to install on php 7. And if I install then switch php to 7 then front end displays but admin login screen just goes from /administrator to /administrator/index.php and empties the boxes. Front end displays but login refreshes and empties the boxes.

What PHP 7 version? The -dev string isn't giving much helpful data.

IIRC PHP 7 builds before the first or second beta had some quirks with the session handling that would cause Joomla to not work right at all. With the current release candidates, that should not be an issue.

That's heavily dated based on the filename. https://wiki.php.net/todo/php70#timetable shows all the release dates, you'll want a build for sometime after July 23 if you can find it. There are some hosts out there offering PHP 7 if you're using one of them, or if you're comfortable with running VMs there are a few out there for that as well. But with the date on that build string, I wouldn't rely on it; beta 1 or beta 2 was the first PHP 7 release where I was able to do most basic functions.

A discussion about the new 'feature' that collects data being installed without specific permission can be seen at https://groups.google.com/d/msg/joomla- ... F_Ge0FBwAJ. Some users may find the discussion interesting.

3.0 Stable was a log time ago. (typo for sure) However that is not relevant. A poll on this issue is not feasible since the issue might be not understood by many of the users (which is not an offensive statement but just a fact) since the entire story should be clarified. Nothing is wrong with the collection of the data as mentioned for sure..... It is minimal and not intrusive and does not collect data from the (visiting) person itself so this entire discussion is useless for me?

Yep and it has been merged. The devs reacted quickly to the concerns raised and adopted the suggestions. Thanks all

mbabker wrote:That's heavily dated based on the filename. https://wiki.php.net/todo/php70#timetable shows all the release dates, you'll want a build for sometime after July 23 if you can find it.
Thanks using Bitnami WAMP Stack 7.0.0RC6-0 Dev from https://bitnami.com/stack/wamp/installer ... for my localhost php 7 test environment.

Any further news on Beta 2 and beyond? http://www.joomla.org. still shows this schedule:
Joomla.org wrote:When is the stable release due?

We have revised the launch timeline slightly to ensure we can get everything up to the quality levels we all would like, and to ensure thorough testing on as many hosting environments as possible.

The schedule is now as follows:

17 November beta 2
1 December - Release Candidate
8 December – 3.5 Stable
