I know that dear brad, but as far as I know the beta release wouldn't have any serious differences with the final version, am i right ?
However, i hope this issue would be solved in the final version...

Earlier in this thread it has been stated that the database structure is unlikely to change. However...Wisdom dictates that you are probably best off not banking on that. No one has guaranteed anything and I highly doubt anyone is a position to guarantee it. Programmers are smart people, but they don't have time machines.

Further, just because the database structure might not change, doesn't mean bad data produced from a bug in the beta couldn't cause you problems too. If you go live and bad things happen, it is logical to place the blame with who ever made the decision to go live.

I have never said that we are using this release in our live site, our live site is still the 1.5.17 version that has the duplicate link and title problem...
We have installed the Joomla 1.6 Beta for testing properties on a sub-domain, but after we published some articles with seo enabled, we've seen that this problem still exists, and i must really said that's not good for us...

Finally, i know this topic is for bug report, and beside the great features that joomla 1.6 is coming with , but this bug, how tiny or small it seems, it is a serious problem for sites that have many content and links like us and i hope this is enough to get your attention...
And installing a 3rd party extension that maybe cause performance issues or 404 pages would not be great deal...

Please make bug reports in the tracker.

Rowby, If you put it in the tracker and people think it's a feature not a bug they'll let you know :).

Thanks for a job, very well done. :)

I have to say though, that I'm disappointed fro not seeing a built-in tagging system in it just as the case with wordpress.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks.
Congrats and agreed. Tagging should be a core function of Joomla. Without it, there is no simple way to attribute articles to more than one category.

I would be willing to bet that a tagging solution will be updated from one of the 1.5 components or created new within a month of 1.6 final release. Any takers?

Is it possible to see, when you link an Article Author, his user details and other articles based on the creator of that current article?

You can link on the Author name, and see his contact / articles list page.

Good work!
Look forward to the stable version.

Also like to see that there is now possible to specify language for Menus, Categories, Modules, Articles... which again should make it possible in a not to distant future to see full support (in CORE) for multilingual joomla sites.

I like the the new nested categories as well, not to forget the new permission system... awesome.

Just one question:
Is there any possibility to see support for linking an article to more than one category?

Keep up the excellent work!

:( Been hoping for this for a very long time.
Do you want to be able to associate a content item (artlcle) with more than 1 category in Joomla!?

In relation to my previous post about linking an article to more than one category.

I now understand that this will not be supported in Joomla 1.6

But it would be cool though, if the dev. team could use some time on thinking out a database structure that would support this. And then implement this database structure when the 1.6 is released to the public.
This way, it would "only" need a software change in Joomla 1.6.1 to get this implemented :)

Any thoughts about this?

You could try extensions such as;
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... louds/7718

I believe K2 has a tags support (although I could be wrong), if that may help...

I know it's not the same as having it in the core, but hopefully one day it will come.

Adding a feature like tagging to the Joomla! framework is a major undertaking, even bigger than adding comments in some ways although not as big as adding ACL. I'm sure it will eventually be there but there is a long distance between a cool idea and implementation at the quality and performance level expected from Joomla!. However, you can support work on this or any other initiative by contributing code or providing financial support through sponsorships, for example.

Just wanted to say good work guys! I have been using Joomla for some time now and I'm 99% satisfied, the other 1% I'll try to improve and help with ideas on this forum.

Thanks again! :)

I read that Emmanuel, Flexicontent developer (www.flexicontent.org) will upgrade own component for Joomla 1.6 (flexicontent support multi-mapping option); also, Multicategories component (http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... tion/12374) might be available for 1.6..let's wait and see

Hmmm, I must have been on a Martian expedition these past few days as I have only just seen this announcement. Fantastic news and well done to all those who have worked tirelessly to get version 1.6 to the beta stage :). I shall be giving it a spin in a bit.

Once again congrats lads and ladettes :)!!!

thank you for your suggestion

I don't understand why not to implement a solution like that ???

I think it'd be useful in the core

I regastared a new domain last week and was going to build my first joomla site with the multi catagories add in. I see that will be built in in 1.6 if I start to build now will it be easy to upgrade with just that one add on. Or should I just postpone for the first release of 1.6 or is the 3rd beta stable enough to start to build on this is a brand new site and domain so it really isn't much of a production site. I know not to ask about the first actual release but (big but there) I read the first release should be out this summer if that is still the case I might be better off to wait for it.

It seems to be an issue with Safari. We're looking into it.

I like the new Template Manager but I miss the Template tab in Module Manager. What is the best way to work around this?

@newart

Adding a feature to the Joomla! core is not the same thing as installing a third party extension and repackaging.

How many betas do you think there will be?
