Hi,

I just updated a 2.5.1 site to 2.5.2 using Admin Tools Pro and now the version number appears twice in the control panel, one below the other. Everything else seems fine.

Has anyone else noticed that?

Cheers,

Dave.

Hi,

you can get rid of the second version number in the Module manager.
  1. Click on Extension > Module Manager
  2. Select "Administrator" instead of "Site"
  3. Find the two "Joomla Version" module
  4. disable one of them by clicking on the green checkmark

Thanks. When doing that, I also noticed that there were two 'Multilanguage status' modules too, but since they were unpublished I didn't realise initially.

These "duplicate-module" issues happen on a clean install also? Or just upgrades?

Also, why no new features or enhancements in 2.5.2? It's been a while since 2.5.1. Are they saved for the June release? (not complaining, just wondering)

Thanks!

I got the Duplicate version info on a site that was previously updated from J1.7 to J2.5 (then updated to J2.5.1 and now to J2.5.2)

On another site installed with 2.5 from the beginning, I did not notice this issue

if you make a new articel and make some nice table and save it Tables ar gone :'(

This is a BUG!!! that have to be fix right away! not to morrow but to day!

I retract the above comment...yesterday I did not see it in that particular site, but it must have been Browser cache doing it for me...

I just accessed it again to confirm and I did see the duplicate version info on this site too....

The "Default Black List" text filtering does not work as before...it removes everything and puts it in a single paragraph...

But there is also trouble saving any changes to the Text Filtering setting...(posted about this)

Something is wrong

Like stated here Joomla 1.7.5 also is affected?

There is existing confusion about it. Someone else told, he had merged the versions and the security bug is NOT in Joomla 1.7.5?

Yes, of course, 1.7.x is EOL, but users, who are thinking, that this version still is secure, could wait longer with doing the update.

Could someone shed light on it, please?

After upgrading from 2.5.1 to 2.5.2 the template no longer shows at http://hytr.org

Also when we login to the admin area it shows a strange template I have never seen before. It's basically all black. See attached screenshot.

We've upgraded other sites under the same cPanel hosting account (Addon Domains) without any problems.

We only have this problem with hytr.org

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Yes it is and you should not wait a minute with upgrades since it is a HUGE risk. Now that the risk is a known fact you only have to wait before the site is whacked if you do not upgrade.... Besides that you should have no reason not to upgrade and it is plain simple.

It is not that simple... as not all extensions working in 1.7.5 are also working in 2.5..... those who simply upgrade without considering this (as I think many did initially) may find their site breaks.

I've been updating extensions gradually, hoping that in time they will all become available for 2.5, but this isn't yet the case...

Thanks for your reply.

It was not the question, what I would do (my websites and the websites of my clients are updated to 2.5. since January and continously updated to the newest version, except of one site, that's still on 1.5.25).

I come from a german joomla-forum, where the discussion is around this question: Is Joomla 1.7.5 also affected? Like you can see in the english google thread, bembelimen says, Joomla 1.7.5 still is secure (he has tested it).

Btw. FYI: Mark has changed the security article in the mean time. But above it says 1.7.5 and below still 1.7.4 :)

So what did you do about extensions that weren't 2.5 ready?

Sorry... I realise that this is a bit off-topic...

hi, I just upgraded from 1.7.3 to 2.5.2 and there seems to be a little bug with selecting update packages now.

In 1.7.3, when there were several packages to install, I could select one and update that package only. (I prefer to do them one by one in case something goes wrong.)

Now in 2.5.2, when I select a package from the list and click Update, the system tells me that I first need to select something. No update starting.

To run an update, I now have to check the select all checkbox above the package list. Then the Update button will work.

Anybody else noticed this? I think I have seen that already with 2.5.0 or 2.5.1 but at the time I thought that I had perhaps made an error somewhere.

I have over a dozen JOOMLA 2.5 sites, so easy security releases and updates are important to me. I appreciate the efforts that have go into streamlining the process, but I think the latest release obviously has a problem.

I just now activated the update icon for 2.5.2 security release. The interface gave me three warnings related to templates that are no longer there. I develop custom templates and always remove the samples so my users don't get confused by them.

After I looked at the warnings I figured there wasn't really a problem as each description indicated it was for a template that no longer existed. I went to the article manager to work on a story... clicked "Save and Close" ... and the program tossed me out, right back to the back end login page.

I logged into the back end and the Status Icon is an error symbol and says "Unknown JOOMLA Update Status" ... If I try to move to any other area in the back end I'm tossed back out.

WHAT DO I DO NOW? I did NOTHING more than initiate an automatic update process and it screwed me. ..... Has this happened to others?

Additional info - about two hours after I posted this the problem cleared up. Don't know why ... then, after about three hours of work I logged out ... when I came back to it the problem had returned. Other than ideas of what it might be... does anyone have a suggestion as to how to regain control ?

Thanks again. ..

From what I read elsewhere, it looks like there is a known issue with Admin Tools from the Akeeba team that is causing some of the older version SQL updates to be re-run. From Nicholas' statement on his support system, it should be a one time error based on a change in the Admin Tools 2.2 release. This is why some folks are getting the second version module in admin or their blacklist data being reset.

2.5.2 was issued as a quick security release to resolve a high security issue. As to why other code committed since 2.5.1's release wasn't included, I cannot be 100% certain. But, that code will be in the 2.5.3 release which will probably be released in the next couple of weeks.

I confirm :)
I updated (today) to 2.5.2 version , in order to fix de swap image problem.
I dodn't know if it is fixed, because Know, everything but text is riped off, as soon as you save your changes.

Must be the most unfortunate joomla update I've for me (since 1.5.21 when I first installed it)...a lot more painful than updating from J1.7 to J2.5

Who knows a few more things about Joomla update 2.5.2 ????
I am really astonished with this update. Everything, in articles, that you change and save, lost it's formating, the images are cleanup... it's amazing how can they put a version like this one out there ??

Cannot confirm. Shows just fine as long as you set the parameters correct (show admin images = yes)

it is 1:1 Joomla 2.5.1 with only a security adjustment. So nothing has actually changed except for a security upgrade in certain area
