Re: Mambo Open Source Development Team - Letter to the community - Discussion
For the record I havent upgraded my own personal site either, then again its still running Mambo 4.5.0 1.0.9
This is due to the fact that all my spare time gets pored into Joomla work.
I keep telling myself I need to upgrade, but I keep getting distracted by this forum, the bug tracker, the Core emails, the Core IRc discussions, the Core Wiki, the.........awww shucks the list just keeps going on and on

I know your hard work, duties, tusks, responsabilities and so on... so don't "worry"! As a joomler I can really say that you are important for us. Then to change the CMS name in your site isn't a problem for you... The "problem", the hard work is what you do every-day!!!! Thanks by an enthusiastic joomlerstingrey wrote:

Give us a break! We've been working 20 hour days to get Joomla! where it is today. The fact that we've not had time to update our own site is testament to the fact that we've been working so hard on Joolma! that we've had time for nothing else.webdrift wrote: mambo has forked and the core team left yet

I think this is a disgrace
After all the talk and press, they need to update their personal site to refelect their allegiance to joomla.
Please update your text guys, this makes it look like your trying to profit from the mambo brand.

Re: Mambo Open Source Development Team - Letter to the community - Discussion
I am sure that these guys are extremely proud of the work they did as mambo core developers. They are now developing the software under a new banner. They are perfectly entitled to state their credentials as developers of mambo.
They are not likely to wipe all that hard work off their CV now that they have moved on are they.
If I were in their shoes and I had time to redo my web site, I would still proudly declare my work on mambo.

Do you want the answer to be as vague as your question?

Thanks webdrift for the gentle prod. You're very right, we should have updated that earlier but we've been going like cut snakes since August - I've made the necessary changes. Bit stuck on the graphic though. "Where Mambo meets business" had such a nice ring to it. "J" is just a tad harder to get the same smooth illiteration (no, I'm not calling for suggestions, hehe, just musing to myself).

webdrift- a more fitting use of the word "disgrace" would be in reference to the rare occasion that the core team gets chastised for not doing enough work. Back down - you have yet to internalized the motivations behind open source projects.

Re: why is the x core team at jamboworks.com still using mambo?
Please lets us respect the team. Right now thier priority is to get Joomla runing and stable not to start any side deal. Let's respect them. Just the first month they have new product and they have even have an update. Please, give them time and let us continue to support them in any way we can. Things takes time.webdrift wrote: mambo has forked and the core team left yet

My sites are also Mambo at present... quite simply because I made Joomla! my priority over the last few weeks.
I think its anything but a disgrace that the commitment to Joomla has taken priority over many of our other interests and jobs.

I think it is the other way around, certainly not a disgrace. I think they should be extremely proud of their work on Mambo, until the Mambo Foundation delivers a new version they are the developers of Mambo. Just look at all things accomplished in mere weeks over here at Joomla!. I personally think that they are almost doing a better job now than before..... They are listening to the community, for example the starting of the standards and 3CPD groups. Keep on going guys .............

Thanks Tonie for the support. We have been working very hard on Joomla! and Open Source Matters, and that is a lot more effort than just writing code. Yes this has taken all of our efforts recently, and we have let pretty much all of our personal and business websites fall out of date as a lower priority.Tonie wrote: I think it is the other way around, certainly not a disgrace. For example, if the priority is either updating JamboWorks, or launching the new forge, then it will be an easy decision

A. that poster had to drill down 2 levels to get that outdated info: the front page of the site http://www.jamboworks.com/ says in two places that they have left Mambo Dev. Team. Had to be someone who was looking for something and had more than a clue where to find it.
B. that poster had precisely 1 post - that one. None previous - none since. But, they keep logging in, as recently as just now. I bet they just want to see who responds and how. Just a mischief maker - that's all.
C. that poster says "I think this is a disgrace;" I seriously doubt the thinking part. (Was that mean?)
Don't bite. Just ignore those 1 post wonders and don't let it get to you.

This may be wrong to say and even immature to say (hint mods I won't complain if you kill this)that poster had precisely 1 post - that one. None previous - none since. But, they keep logging in, as recently as just now. I bet they just want to see who responds and how. Just a mischief maker - that's all.
But it appears that Miro's new Public Relations team has hit the ground running!

Reminds me of an old story:
An interoffice softball game was held every year between the marketing and support departments of a company. The support department whipped the marketing department soundly.
To show just *how* the marketing department earns their keep, they posted this memo on the bulletin board after the game:
"The Marketing Department is pleased to announce that for this year's Softball Season, we came in 2nd place, having lost but one game all year. The Support Department, had a rather dismal season, however, as they won only one game, coming in next to last."
Kinda puts it in perspective.

Wow, I don't know how this same up in my search results...but what a memory....I remember everyone rallying and running to these new forums. Some Mambo members claiming that they would give up on the development of both CMS's, but look where things stand now?
I think the day of the Mambo/Joomla breakup will be one for the textbooks.
