Ok, but I think I will wait then until we have a new name and the first new download available to make it more effective.vavroom wrote:I don't believe it's in the written rules, but try it, and find yourself banned No worries though, no great loss to you to not have access *there* anymore... plus you'd join a neat club of banned people, including mede wrote: Btw. is it against the rules to put the link to here in the signature overthere?

Re: Mambo Open Source Development Team - Letter to the community - Discussion
I posted a very polite message titled, "important!" which suggested that anyone who was not aware of the Foundation's announcements should read that thread (and provided a link to it) and also read.. (added the thread to the dev teams letter).happy_noodle_boy wrote: So what do you have to do there to get banned?
No more, no less. But, I did cross-post it into five forums. On trying to post to the 6th, I was banned.
I had also made a post in the "forum feedback" forum asking how I could cancel my account and stating that I had deleted a number of my posts as I didn't want Miro to have access to my intellectual property.
That post didn't even contain a link or any mention of this site.
All gone. Banned for the first time ever!

Any inidication as to which of the big names/components/mambots have given their support here? Or is it too early for that?

Glad to see you're all here.
I'd encourage everyone who has a photo of themselves to show it with pride. We realised how powerful and open it is to see people's faces. Go on, get the digital camera out!
Again, nice to see everyone turning up.

I'm worrying about mamboforge.net. May be we need to extract from it address base of 3PD projects? Or files? It's the gold of Mambo addons.
And second. If mambo can change to everything else, how about core code?

^^quoted from the "OTHER" forum.I don't know who the Miro exec's are but don't they realize that they have just isolated a massive portion of the web development/design community and that once the word gets out that no one will purchse their products from them.
I think in reality it's more than likely the death of Miro.
1. too bad he/she doenst know who p. lamount(lamont) is. he could written something ~better~
2. news defintely spread like hell fires.. defintely a good point raised,.. who the hell would be interested to buy a ~stolen~ product?

"Take back the content"
Yeah, go on, this is the language they will understand. Maybe Miro will understand at last.
You all know the scene of LotR, where Gollum immerses in Lava. At LAST, he did notice he is dying

It's not unlike the feeling you get when you chance upon an old girlfriend who has blossomed in the intervening years. You entertain thoughts of what-could-have-beens and want her back. Mambo may be drop-dead gorgeous now, but I would suppose she has moved on to better things.

Robert Castley was the project director of Mambo from 2002 to Oct. 2004. More about him with a simple Google search.Dikud wrote: I can read Plamont's posts in 'other' forum but there's no RCastley there? Where is he?

Re: Mambo Open Source Development Team - Letter to the community - Discussion
Hello all,
It took me a while to see what is going on. This is because I'm dug in helping people with their templating and don't read the other threads, but by luck I saw MasterChief's post.
I don't know what is going on, I have an idea. It's probably why I left a very, very popular ASP portal in the first place. Now it's happening here, a split of the community, or am I wrong?
I had a feeling this was happening, don't ask me how I new. And as a matter of fact I was looking to leave Mambo.
If you open a Template Forum I'm here to help out as much as I can.

You can stay here, it's not a split of the community, it's a split of community and "supporting sponsor firm"...

Well, I'm definately going to be distancing mosCE from 'Mambo', just have to decide when the right time is to make the announcement.
Just decided to buy a house today, there is no way I can fork out $1000 for the 'privelage' of being a 3PD!

Re: Mambo Open Source Development Team - Letter to the community - Discussion
just thought i'd ask - isnt the trademark on how the word Mambo is used - such as 'M' - since the word mambo was around before miro used it, they can not copyright the name - only the logo and layout of how the word mambo is used in accordance with their product.
so in reality we could use 'mambo open source' no? (note the small 'm')

I posted this on the other forum asking for R Castley to make his feelings known http://forum.mamboserver.com/showthread ... post274061
Maybe if enough of us ask, we can get a response.
Onto other matters, when this has all settled down. Maybe someone can write a simple 2 or 3 paragraph page that outlines what has happend so new people or existing users of mambo will understand quickly and clearly they are not going to want to trawl through all the history.
Then everyone who has contributed a 3PD, can add a little message to their installer, we all know that mambo allows you to show a message on successful install.
"We regret to inform you that we will no longer be continuing to develop this comp/bot etc for mambo since the core dev team have left and the people at miro have done something blah blah blah." WIth a link to the above said page.
A nice simple message, not slagging or confusing but politiely pointing people towards the new CMS.
Simple quick and clear way of bringing people across.

2. "Mambo" is also the name of a dance, so copyright a name
3. And if so..... the you call it from now on "Tango"
Guys and Dolls, keep on the good work
