Re: Discuss Joomla! 3.1.0 Released
Tagging system is one of the most required things Joomla has come out with. But I wonder about the SEO practices Joomla use. If I post something on my Joomla site, it gets indexed to search engines in a certain amount of time (may be in a week or two), but with other CMS, like wordpress I have experienced instant indexing of my site content in few hours or couple of days (with same content).....pe7er wrote:Discuss Joomla! 3.1.0 Released here

What advancements can be made in Joomla to make it much more SEO friendly.....?

Re: Discuss Joomla! 3.1.0 Released
Hi Ankit,
Joomla's built in SEO capabilities are quite good. At the place where I work, our site is a Joomla website and our content gets indexed in a few hours or less. So it's not an issue with Joomla.
Having duplicate content does not mean that the sites would get indexed equally nor does it mean that the site that gets indexed quicker has better SEO software. There are many factors that determine rate of indexing which are independent of software (e.g. traffic, inbound links, etc)
Answering why one of your sites gets indexed faster than another one of your sites is beyond the scope of this forum topic. It's likely due to a multiple factors, as most SEO is. I'd suggest opening up a thread on the SEO forum instead:

Hope this helps!
Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Nick,Nick Savov wrote:Having duplicate content does not mean that the sites would get indexed equally nor does it mean that the site that gets indexed quicker has better SEO software.
I am not saying that duplicating the content is a solution. I just meant to compare the things, nothing else.
Well, thanks for the suggestion Nick. But, I am not asking the techniques to improve SEO of a Joomla site, instead I am talking about the advancements that can be done in default Joomla setup which can help users in indexing their content quickly.Nick Savov wrote:I'd suggest opening up a thread on the SEO forum instead:

My example about wordpress didn't meant that the site's content is too good, what I meant is that they use some kind of techniques that help in faster indexing and if possible, then We, the Joomla people can also embed some that kind of techniques.

Re: Discuss Joomla! 3.1.0 Released
Sure, but the SEO forum is a better place to discuss that as it's off-topic within this topic, which is for discussion of the release of Joomla 3.1.0.
Alternatively, if you're interested in coding SEO features into the core, then the JCMS Google Group is the best place to ask:

Hope this helps, Ankit!
