I updated many sites today and wasn't shown that error myself. Perhaps your server was having an issue reaching the update site?

No we do not longer support since a few years now Joomla 2.x after EoL. You need to (mini)migrate/upgrade

Brad is right. We have tested the update packages that have been distributed now extensively in the CMS-Release Team and they show now problems. This must be indeed server setting related or connection related as mentioned by Brad

@alpek99 This is not a Joomla issue but a server issue. Connect with your host

After updating to 3.6.5 displaying the templates from extensions-templates-templates, does not show the templates in order...they are a mess.

@Mytbi: What templates : all? Post a screenshot/cast pls. This sounds a botched update and has nothing to do with Joomla itself since the update run perfectly normal I can assure from thousands of upgrades we are reviewing in the Teams of Jooma and my company for instance. These kind of issues have not been reported yet.

Hello,

I'm trying to update several sites from 3.6.4 to 5. Some work some don't. They're all on the same server with the same settings. On half of them i get this:
500 internal server error

In the logs it shows like this:
errorlog.jpg
Anyone have a clue ??
Thanks.

https is not a problem in update. I was update all my sites fine(i use http and https as well in different joomla sites). About your error try to use admin tools to fix your permissions and check again. Also you have the option to download, upload and install the patch.

Just a correction to [#12817] Fix Joomla Updater for Windows Users.

That summary is incorrect. The issue was that the introduction of downloads.joomla.org introduced a problem with deducting the file name of the update. This results in not recognizing it is already available in temp which results in downloading it and on Windows failing to save the patch due to an invalid filename.

So, on all platforms the already downloaded patch was not recognized. Only on Windows it failed to save the patch.

In the mean time the url was changed back to the proper patch name. This bugfix removes the dependency for the patch name on the url.
Issue with migrating? Include logs/joomla_update.php in your report!
Blank screen? Verify pagesource for HTML code (javascript error)
Installation failing on populating database? Install with set_time_limit(0)

jsteffers wrote:Updated four sites today. 3 no problems. The one which is an intranet have an error message the archive file is truncated or corrupt. I downloaded the update and placed it in the root folder and extracted it with profiles. It worked! I then did a database fix
In general object to using Extensions>Database>Fix and the manual update via extraction of the update over your installation. That is not a proper way to update. It just happens to work in the case of going from 3.6.4 to 3.6.5. That is because there are no changes in com_admin related to sql updates and script.php.

Happens to work should be read as no obvious issues visible. The script.php is not run in this case. On a proper update It updates the database based on the files delivered with the update, and not only the sql files. No idea how that is going to get back at you, but we'll see in the future.

I've tried installing through the defaullt update channel, and by uploading the package - each time it crashes. The last 2 times without the AJAX error but instead it freezes at 90ish % and stops then throws me out (taking the website and backend down with it). Each time i'm reinstalling a back up before trying again ....
Any ideas gratefully received.

Sovainfo means "set in php.ini the directive "max_execution_time = 0" which means it has no restrictions in time
