Andrew, you drew me across from Mambo to Joomla with your enthusiasm and passion for the project, and your desire to just write great software - it is sad to see Masterchief leave the helm.  I am glad to hear you will be continuing to play a part though.

The growth of this community is a testament to your efforts and those who have worked with you.  It seems like the team working on 1.5 will continue the great start you have given Joomla!

Our team at legal.consult and our clients who have benefited from all your work thank you!

Best wishes

Andrew

Thanks Andrew, sorry for the bothering so often, glad for your family as they might get more of you, sad to see you go, glad to hear you'll stick around.

Congrats to the now official new team! And for having updated the "who are we" pages already ;)

What about some other "lost" Core members? More announcements to follow? I mean those we never hear about..

Thank you guys for all your work.  I really appreciate all the hours and hours that you spend on Joomla!

I must admit when a bunch of people leave at once it makes me a little nervous though  ???

There is always more to the story than what we first here......

Again thank you for working so very hard for the project.

Moments like these (when people leave) are the moments I (and probably others) reflect on their role and time in the project. Joomla is lots of fun, it does take away lots of time and thoughts. I am perfectly fine with this, it is more than worth it. Everybody will have this sooner or later. There are quite a lot of personal situations (getting kids, health, etc.) that can affect this. Resigning from the team is always a personal matter. Andy (Troozers) already decided some time ago that his available time slots (due to work) weren't getting any better for the forseeable future. Like Johan said, people will come and leave. More than three years on a really high profile project like Mambo/Joomla! is a long time, IMO you must be either mad or a genius to keep on going for that long ;).

Andrew, Mitch, Arno, thanks for the good work you did. Good luck in your future endeavours.

Johan, please update us all as soon as you can about the status of OSM. There has not been any announcement of a director having been appointed to replace Brian, which left OSM in breach of its charter under US law. OSM *must* have a minimum of three directors at all times - did Mitch and Andrew appoint three before they left???
Also, does this change mean that OSM is no longer able to use its registered office (Mitch's office), and if so, do you have somewhere else in NY to set up the registered office?

I'm not asking to stir, I am only asking because I am worried.

Thank you Andrew Eddie, Mitch Pirtle and Arno Zijlstra for all your amazing work you have done for Joomla. I am sadden to see you all resigned because Joomla popularity and a powerful robust CMS would not have been without your directions and the movtiation of the core members. But i am also very please that you will all still be around for Joomla at times.

Best of luck to all :)

OSM is in the process of appointing new board members and sign over responsibilities. As we wrote in the announcement more information will be made available when we have finalised these structural changes.
Also, does this change mean that OSM is no longer able to use its registered office (Mitch's office), and if so, do you have somewhere else in NY to set up the registered office?
The information about the office isn't fully correct, OSM as such doesn't has a registered office.  OSM has legal residence in the State of New York but no physical residence. However, U are probably refering to the agent of OSM. Mitch was indeed appointed as the agent of OSM, as a result a new agent will be appointed too.

Sorry for my ignorance in such matters, but what does an "agent" do?
Only one I'm familiar with is Agent Smith in Matrix..
(bit of fun, but serious question: is this an important position for OSM?)

Simply the law regarding Not-For-Profit organisations in New York State requires a person or an entity to be named the 'agent' of the organisation. This is only for "delivery of process" - or simply whom does one address a legal claim against.

Thanks Johan. I am relieved to know that all is in hand and that the directors did not just leave without appointing replacements. I didnt want to see all that hard work in setting up OSM come unravelled.

I'd say that Andrew and I deserve a little more credit than that - it would be crazy to think that we would walk away from all this work without taking steps to ensure continuity. Just wait for the official announcement, which I'm sure will explain how OSM is going to proceed in due course.

My deepest thanks to Andrew, Mitch and Arno for their contributions in what was probably the most difficult and important times of the project.

through their guidance, wisdom and personal integrity they have successfuly saved a project that would have been doomed and dead if not for their quick and determined actions to keep it alive and save it from the fires of hell and greed!

After everything that has transpired over this very pivitol year, I most certainly can't blame them from needing a bit of a vacation! LOL

As for the organization I have complete confidence that Andrew, Mitch and Arno will see to it that all their hard work will be left in very good hands!

I respect that Mitch. However, it is hard to just assume everything is in order when the announcement only said you had left. All I wanted was reassurance that all the laws relating to OSM were being upheld.  Brian left before a replacement director was appointed, I have been informed, and in the wrench of making the decision to leave it would have been understandable if replacement directors were the furtherest things from your minds ;)

At least by asking the questions and getting good responses, everyone can now be assured that all the "t's" are crossed and "i's" dotted.
I appreciate the responses to my concerns and am no longer worried. :)

In defense of Elpie here, It is quite understandable that people will have concerns considering they have been burned by similar assurances someplace else...

But it is a testament to all the hard work done by Andrew, Mitch and Arno that you can actually trust those statements when they are made here.

Trust can't just be given. It must be earned. IT has been earned here!
therefore I have no doubts that everything is in order!

I understand there are questions to be asked, and I am glad explanations are appreciated. However, can we keep this thread on topic please? If there are other questions with topics like this, can you please open up a new thread on the 'Official Joomla websites' part of the forum, for example? Thanks for this.

Apologies for being perhaps overly defensive. I've personally put a tremendous amount of effort into OSM, and have always had a clear and transparent dedication to open source in general, not just regarding this particular project.

I have had my ethics somewhat unceremoniously trampled from time to time, and that has made me a bit quick to respond.

Thanks for the support Asphyx, and apologies to Elpie if I was too quick to defend myself. Again, I've put a trememdous amount of effort into OSM, so yes I am a little touchy if that commitment is questioned.

As this discussion has been judged off topic, I'll stop commenting on this thread. Thanks everyone for your support.

Wow. Another phase transition. Things happen quickly in cyberworld.  Thanks to Andrew Eddie and the core for their huge gifts to this community. How about a cybermonument to Joomla's great contributors?  Best wishes and good energy to you all. Thanks.

Even though I did not really get to know you guys during my short time with the Joomla project, I have to say thank you.  Thank you for all of your hard work, dedication and time.  Without it, Joomla would not be the great project that it is.

I wish you all the best of luck!

I have one more question:
Andrew, why don't you say goodbye yourself?
It seems a bit unpersonal just reading this announcement..

Andrew Eddie, Mitch Pirtle and Arno Zijlstra Announcement

Post by AmyStephen » Sat Jul 08, 2006 9:44 pm

I am not ready to comment, yet. My head just won't stop shaking. This is not good. :(

Might I request, however, that the announcement title and the title to this discussion be updated to respectfully list each core team member we are recognizing in this thread?

Thank you, Amy

Ah it's good to see topics still go off the rails at an amazing rate of knots :)  Feels like home.

Thanks for the comments people.  I'm taking a well earned break in the developer retirement village and just getting back to coding for a while - let's get some *real* magic happenning eh :)
