Hi there,

This week my company had to some work for this company, when I saw the logo I was negativly excited.

The maker of the new joomla logo stole it from this logo he even took the font.

I don't think it's a good idea to proceede with this logo guys!!!

In my opinion, the logo's dont look the same.
The Joomla! logo is 4 J's which are represented as People (Stick Figures) connected together to show a tightly connected community.
The logo you have shown, doesnt represent this and I cant really see any similarities besides the font, which is perfectly legal to use.

Furthermore, I cant see how the allasso logo applies to the their company anyway.
The logo looks like the letter X.  ;)

I believe the Joomla! logo kicks butt.  :D

And also do you know for a fact that the creator of the Joomla! logo "stole" it from that company?
If not, its not very nice to make such accusations without any proof.

Good idea persianari to put the two logos next to each other. It lets us better judge the two logos.

As for the logo comparison, here's my two cents. Yes they are similar in appearance, but in fact they are quite different through the use of colour and 3d effect in the Joomla logo.
And I think the accusation about the font is totally ridiculous. Where would we be if we could not use a font that is already used by another organisation.

So, what is the deal!

Has any decision been made yet on what badges we are allowed to use. Or can we just use any of the suggested badges.
I am sure lot's of us want to start placing them on our sites.

Core team please come to a decision!

I'm also interested in that! Would be nice to have an 'official' one which has been decided upon by the core team or at least the members of this forum and not by some – not even Joomla related – website.

Yes... I too am waiting for the official Joomla! badge release.
But I don't think this will be happening any time soon, as the dev team are very busy coding and getting the 1.0.4 security release ready, given the severity of the recent security scare.

I don't think if he stole it. That is a relatively common pattern that many symbols utilize.

From what I know of Trademark law (UK), it's not so much question of whether a mark looks similar (although that obviously comes into it) but more of whether the public will confuse the two logos.

If Joomla's logo confuses people so that they think they are buying Allasso's products, then Allasso would have a case of "passing-off" against Joomla. ie: Joomla's products are being "passed-off" as Allasos. And a case of "passing-off" may be filed whether there was intent to "pass-off" or not. Make sense????

So, two logos can have similar elements, but they shouldn't  be so similar the public think they are related - I don't think this is the case here..... ;)

Disclaimer: I am not a trademark lawyer so please don't rely on this   :P

Very nice images throughout the thread (is this still open) but I've decided to use Taksters on a rotational basis at www.rafnet.org.uk.

Very well done lads and ladies  :-*
