they just usually call it "2mb ADSL" pero anything else na matatawag?
since T1 is 1.5mb and usually associated with cables.. and ang T2 naman (which is also associated with cable connection) is 3mbps.
any ideas mga tsong?

2mbps ang download speed mo. 2mbps == 2000kbs/8 == 250Kb/sec.
mbps = megabits/sec
kbs = kilobits/sec
Kbs = KiloBytes/sec
ang 512kbs naman ang upstream mo.. meaning if you upload. yan ang speed.
ADSL stands for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line... also a form of DSL.

ADSL is a newly standardized transmission technology facilitating simultaneous use of normal telephone services, data transmission of 6 Mbit/s in the downstream and Basic-rate Access (BRA).
ADSL can be seen as a FDM system in which the available bandwidth of a single copper-loop is divided into three parts. See figure gif. The baseband occupied by POTS is split from the data channels by using a method which guarantees POTS services in the case of ADSL-system failure (eg. passive filters).

E1 or 2Mbps is only available in Japan or Europe. I'm not aware in Manila.guilliam wrote: got it.. thanks for the info.. i tried googling around havent seen that.

im not sure but internet sources says its E1 since wala naman nang ibang mention about 2mbps na connection.
and the definition from those sources are the same like, copper wires on 2 or 3 way, distance dependent.. etc..
yeah badtrip lang medyo malayo ata ako sa amplifier.. on bandwidth tests.. i barely cant reach 1.7mbps throughput. usually nasa 1.5 on average.. however on those bandwidth tests ang mga T1 connection usaully nasa 1.1 lang din eh.. so i think sakto lang.
have been checking also with pinoydsl forums and checking on co globelines subscribers na single user and on 2mbps then ganun din naman results.
oh well.. guess its still better than my older 786kbps

Additional information, your 2Mbps pipe is only from your workstation to your ISP, and your ISP piggy back connection to the main provider in manila, then asia hub, then piggy back connection to asia e.g. Japan, Australia, Singapore or Hong Kong, there is no direct link from Manila to US or Europe.guilliam wrote:im in the sunny city cebuthewatcher wrote:E1 or 2Mbps is only available in Japan or Europe. yes its required.
2mbps dsl from globe is Php2,995 a month plus 10 percent tax,.. so thats around Php3295 a month, not including the monthly of the phone, extension, call waiting, caller i.d.,..(VOIP not included since i get it from a separate VOIP provider in the u.s.) hmmnn.. you grew older your monthly bills also grow BIGGER.. arghh...
thats life.

i suggest you talk to globe and show them your stats. If in your contract they promise 2mbps then you should get that (at least while they are in front of you it's another story when they are gone of course. heh heh ) but anyway bug them about it . the problem with service here is people don't mind being ripped off. It's like getting a smart wifi connection and promised 256 but people are using 10/100 lan cards for their connection. go figure !!!!
and let's not forget that what is important is upload and download speeds. Most offer very slow upload speeds. good for surfers and downloading but terrible for developers and those that uploads lots of data.

E1, T1, and all those are types of Broadband Connection just like DSL. So if your DSL has 2Mbps bandwidth, it's still called DSL even if it's as fast as an E1 Connection. E1,T1,T2 and other Broadband connections usually use Fiber Optic cables as opposed to copper wire by DSL.

yes personal line and im the only one using it(not shared) but on network with another pc(my laptop which is 2 meters away from the desktop)marcgalang wrote: OT question: Personal line ba yan? if so, anong gagawin mo sa 2Mbps dsl connection? curious lang, kasi im just using 128kbps smartwifi broadband, and parang di ko maubos ang 128kbps, how much more 2mbps? anong gagawin? this pc is online 24/7, its more of a luxury as it may sound actually. however when youre life is online you will certainly crave more to have the fastest connection in town. something like if i dl a file in 5 minutes why would i settle for that connection if i can dl it in 30 seconds.
im impatient of waiting downloads so i got this connection.
aside from dl's i also upload a lot.
yeah, very nice connection also when you watch streaming videos and listen to manila's radio station web cast since i missed manila's radio station since im here in cebu

I don't know just guessing...

guilliam,
ano ang VOIP provider mo sa US? I am planning to have my own Call center. Do you know any body who can share their connection going to Bohol? A VOIP or Internet connection can reach Bohol by wireless. We have some problem in income scheme bec. very few users lang ang gumagamit. We have an internet here, they are getting their connection from Department store prepaid cards and its expensive...
Is E1 or T1 can reach in Bohol? What type of equipment should we use?
thanks

inphonex is what i use.. try to google it.
isnt there any dsl providers in bohol now?
my ex gf in their hospital is on a broadband connection.
currently i opted to install smart wifi broadband connection now since after the taiwan earthquake last dec 26, 2006 all i can do is send and reply to emails on my globelines broadband. unlike smart wifi their connection doesnt go thru hongkong its routed via singapore thats why it wa snot affected by the cut of submarine cables in the taiwan area.
