How to add a template at Joomla 1.5?

I need a guide how to add a template for Joomla.

Im uploading them on my ftp, but they wont work ...

Go to the extensions manager and use the install interface. You will be able to upload from your local copy or install from a directory on your site.

If they are templates for Joomla version 1.5 they should work even if you have that template unzipped at your local computer and ftp those to your templates folder at your server.
I do that all the time without any problems.
There is no failure until you give up.
