Sorry to say but there are many mistakes in this site package for 1.5.

Starting from the naming convention of the language, the locales used, etc.

Please take off from joomlacode asap and contact me.

See FYI, this is our reference concerning language and ISO code.
http://www.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/php/code_list.php

Reference concerning country codes
http://www.iso.org/iso/country_codes/is ... ements.htm

so the language should most certainly be sd-PK or sd-IN

locales issues
Sindhi locales are not available on any platform.
If you use the devenagari script, you will be better of using the Hindi locales i.e.

hi_IN.utf-8, hi_IN.UTF-8, hi_IN, hin_IN, hi, hindi, hindi-india, hindi-in, ind, india

that is until we figure a way in Joomla to overpass this limitation.

dear moderator,
i can understand your concern, but i named it what google named it, for sindhi .
and anyway i take off the package as u instructed, and i am fixing many things, in this package. i am well aware of this issue, and sindhi dont use the devangi script, its arabic scripts with additional letters..
hope you will continue your support..

Let's try to solve the issues one after the other.  ;)

1. Is Pakistan or India the country you wish to link the language to
i.e. you have to choose sd-PK or sd-IN

2. The locales
As you are using the Arabic script,
Are the dates in Sindhi the same as in Arabic? If yes, we could use Arabic locales.

3. PDF
Would an Arabic-aware pdf font be enough to display Sindhi?
Or do you know any sindhi TTF font which is Open Source or free to use?

4. Have you used Sindhi on a 1.0.13 site before?

Note: this may help you

1. Is Pakistan or India the country you wish to link the language to

ans. i wished to named it sindhi world but now i named it sindhi pakistan .
2. The locales
As you are using the Arabic script,
Are the dates in Sindhi the same as in Arabic? If yes, we could use Arabic locales.
ans. yes we are using the arabic scripts but extended our language have its extended own letters, total count of letters of our sindhi language is =52. but all the arabic letters are the part of our language. so i think it will not be sufficient to handle. and about dates are same, but name of the days are little bit different, months same,
3. PDF
Would an Arabic-aware pdf font be enough to display Sindhi?
Or do you know any sindhi TTF font which is Open Source or free to use?
i think arabic -aware pdf fonts will not be enough for sindhi,
about sindhi TTF fonts they are availabe free,
visit this :
http://www.geocities.com/majidbhurgri/fonts.htm
i would like to use MB sindhi Web and MB sindhi, other will be plus..
i will need detailed help regarding this issue,
i have some idea regarding this but i need complete details.

4. Have you used Sindhi on a 1.0.13 site before?
yes i have used it on my system its works fine with some edits, but i dont know about other that they also able to do that or not..

I have looked at the 1.0.13 pack.
There are 2 errors in the sd-PK.xml.
The file has to be saved as iso-8559-1 (xml in joomla 1.0.x HAS to be iso-8559-1) and one file to install is not listed.
Correction below:

Sindhi
1.0.0
2007-10-25
Raheel H. Kaghzi

sd-PK.php
sd-PK.ignore.php
When you use the Sindhi pack on a Sindhi site (1.0.13), which locale do you enter in the global configuration locale tab?
Any url of a Joomla Sindhi site?

Concerning the pdf, we have a member of the translation workgroup who can help making a pdf font for you.
I will ask him.

in which pack, if on 1.0.14, it will work OK.\

On 1.5 all (xml and ini )have to be utf8- no bom.

as sd_PK.utf8, etc. are not provided by OSes, you will not get the locale at all.

I have not forgotten your pdf file.  ;)

I found this one, Akarawuth
http://scripts.sil.org/cms/scripts/rend ... OT_ttf.zip

which I think could be very useful for many languages:
http://www.wazu.jp/gallery/views/View_Lateef.html

Lateef      (LateefRegOT.ttf)
Source: Free download from SIL International's Arabic script Unicode font page.
Stats: Version 1.0rc1 build 117/117 has 1,147 glyphs and no kerning pairs
Support: Arabic script (Arabic, Ajami, Azeri, Balochi, Berber, Brahui, Kashmiri, Kazakh, Kirghiz Kurdish, Lahnda, Jawi, Parkari, Pashto, Persian, Shahmukhi, Sindhi, Uighur, Urdu, Uzbek; Also includes letters in the "Arabic Supplement" block), Latin
OpenType Layout Tables: Arabic (default, Kurdish, Sindhi, Urdu), Latin

Here is a link to a tcpdf font for Sindhi.
Thanks Akarawuth for the package. :)

Please test and let us know if this suits your needs.

Concerning the locale, we are now discussing about implementing a general solution to this issue as it does not only concern SIndhi but many other languages.
We will keep you posted on this.

thanks you very much for your help,
iam going to try it,
i was just trying to create my other fonts for sindhi,
but unfortunately my linux system is not working properly,
so i was trying to create with windows,

1. Create new ufm file e.g. freemono - ttf2ufm -a -F freemono.ttf - you need ttf2ufm.exe
after using ttf2ufm.exe
i got three files, .ufm , .afm , . t1a.
after installing the php on my system, i still wont get the resulting three .php, .z and .ctg.z files.
i am not familier with windows system though linux always comes with nearly with everything, can anyone telling me regarding this,
or any reference
regards.

I'm used ubuntu to create this.

MB sindhi Web font is OTF
step 1
- Convert OTF to TTF
I'm follow this http://lazza.wordpress.com/2007/12/04/c ... -truetype/
rename file name to small letter.
step 2.
ttf2ufm.exe run on Ubuntu. I used wine on ubuntu to run
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wine

step 3
Run makefontuni.php with the .ttf and .ufm filenames as argument:
$ php -q makefontuni.php myfont.ttf myfont.ufm

Copy the resulting .php, .z and .ctg.z file \language\pdf_fonts
edit xx-XX.xml under tag

<pdfFontName>myfont</pdfFontName>

Hmm...
Looks like we have 2 issues here.
1. The RTL behaviour of tcpdf. Known issue. MTK is in charge of this and trying to solve.
2. The Original Sindhi text I tested from above

Code: Select all

When I use MB Sindhi Web font in a text editor (the original OTF font), the same text whose htmlentities are:

Code: Select all

@raheelkaghzi

1. Concerning the "locale" issue, see the patches proposed here (5th post from the top)
http://groups.google.com/group/joomla-d ... 3f41d94aee
This is not yet implemented in core and some code could change.
We have tested it and it works pretty well.
We have to be patient though. It is for 1.5.2.
In the mean while, your package would only be displaying English dates (or Arabic if you choose the Arabic locale).

2. Concerning the tcpdf ,we now have solved the issue and will commit the new version with rtl in SVN :)
Please test and report here:
http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/joomla ... em_id=9857

3. Concerning getting into our workgroup, I have asked Ole to contact you directly. I look forward to get Sindhi Installation files in trunk for 1.5.2 where we hope the locale issue will be fixed as discussed in 1. :)
