Error in my Global settings
I can get my page to work and the install worked well, but when I go to utilize. The attachment is a screenshot of my global configuration page.
I also get a fatal error when I try to access my components from the Extensions->Install/unisnstall-->component directory. Saying that "Fatal error: Call to a member function name() on a non-object in ......./libraries/joomla/application/helper.php on line 219"
I was wondering if I have to do a fresh install or is there any way to get this problem fixed?

Re: Error in my Global settings
Could you check if all necessary Joomla files are available (and not corrupted) on the server?
Joomla Diagnostics is a helpful tool to check that:

Re: Error in my Global settings
What do I do if I find corrupted files? The diagnostic tool works great...but I don't know what to do with all the files it brings up. I can uninstall the installation and install a fresh joomla, since I haven't launched the website and I am just learning the whole joomla experience. Here is a couple screenshot of the output from the diagnostics tool....

Re: Error in my Global settings
Just uninstalled entire installation and installed a fresh install...still get same error in my global settings...with something about MacOSX and then a function warning/error.
this exactly....
[Warning: call_user_func_array() [function.call-user-func-array]: First argument is expected to be a valid callback, 'JCacheStorage._apc::test' was given in....../libraries/joomla/cache/cache.php on line 139]
is showing up on several different lines in my global settings like the screenshot on initial post looks like.
Using OSX and Firefox 3 b4... what could be the issue???

Re: Error in my Global settings
I have the same problem.
On the same server and on the same machine I succesfully installed a joomla site (1.5.0) for testing purposes a couple of weeks ago. What could it be?
Could it be because I installed the trial setup on the rootlevel and this one, which should be the good one to go live, in /http/www.videodesi...
EDIT:
the first install was Joomla 1.5.0 the second one 1.5.1
so could it be a bug? should I post this somewhere else?
Thanks for any suggestion.

Re: Error in my Global settings
I am having the same problem. I'm afraid it might be my Dreamhost server...is anyone else who is having that problem using that server?

Never mind...I just redirected the site to my old directory and it works fine now.

Re: Error in my Global settings
hi
yes I am actually on a dreamhost server
would you please explain how to do that? I am on a fresh install though. But maybe it gives me an idea of what to try.
It's strange though because the only difference in my case seems to be the new joomla 1.5.1 version...

Re: Error in my Global settings
I've had some problems with Dreamhost's automatic installations, so I can definitely sympathize with you. But that's another story...
Basically, just go to your root directory. The .old directory is the one you had prior to the 1.5.1 upgrade. Rename that one as the primary directory and delete the one you just installed.
For example, my directories were titled plugonemag.com.old (the directory prior to upgrade) and plugonemag.com (directory after upgrade). I deleted the "new" plugonemag.com directory and retitled the ".old" to plugonemag.com.
After you've done that and confirmed that your site works as before, I suggest installing 1.5.1 manually. You can find instructions for doing that on the Joomla homepage.
Hope that helps.

Re: Error in my Global settings
Let me amend that. Don't delete the upgrade directory after you've redirected your site to the .old directory. Just move it to a safe place on your computer. It's never a good idea to delete your work until you're positive that everything is functioning normally.

Re: Error in my Global settings
Yeah... it appears to me to be a problem with the DreamHost one-click installer. I wiped the old installation, and manually installed Joomla 1.5.1 and the problem went away.
Note that even though the admin screen reports version 1.5.0 in in the upper right portion of the Joomla! Admin back-end header, the System Info (under "Help") correctly reports the version as "Joomla! 1.5.1 Production/Stable [ Seenu ] 8-February-2008 22:00 GMT "
It looks like until they get this sorted, manual installation is the way to go. I've submitted a ticket to let DreamHost support know of the problem.

My install was/is manual. I don't have Dreamhost and I still have that error.

Re: Error in my Global settings
I'm on DreamHost and I am getting the same error about cache.php line 139 and session.php line 267. It doesn't seem to be effecting the website, however, so I am inclined to leave things rather than attempt a fresh install (I know I'll just mess it up worse )

Re: Error in my Global settings
That may be true, but I'm not comfortable just leaving it as it is until I fully understand it's ramifications - and I readily admit that, at the present, I don't understand what is happening.Severus Snape wrote:... Also, it makes changing any of the Global Settings "difficult", at best, but I understand that YMMV.
The fresh install is, literally, only a few steps from the command line

Re: Error in my Global settings
I've had the same problems over the last couple of days with a Dreamhost one-click install, also I can't delete the installation directory fully via FTP (though that's probably not connected).
Dreamhost's support page currently says:
Hallo everyone by the way, I'm new and will be asking more than I'm answering whenever I'm here ;-)

Re: Error in my Global settings
Just to remind everybody that if you have a problem with the Dreamhost one-click install, just direct your site to the .old folder on your server and you'll revert back to your previous installation.

Re: Error in my Global settings
I solved my issue (I DON't HOst with dreamhost) by manually installing a fresh install from my PC. I was loading it with my Mac (WHICH I LOVE) but feel like it might have been an issue with my files transferring through my ftp client. anyway upgrading to 1.5.2 seems to work and no errors in my function.
