Hi,

i also have the issue with not displaying the image.
it looks likes the system wants to load it, but it can't
it shows "1 item remaining" and then shoots to finished loading page

i have set all authorsition and my yvcomment is set to use the captcha functionality.

I'm running Joomla 1.5.2 and yvcomment 1.14

i really want this functionality, because my other comments were spammed ...

thanks!!!

can't access your site.

you've posted debug messages and not error logs (the missing translations are not a problem at all...).

Are you sure your hosting provider doesn't have safe_mode enabled?

currently my hosting is offline because of a broken network line somewhere...

But safe_mode is on.
But i have had the OST captcha workable. however this isn't very good to read so that's why i wanted to transfer.
I have set the folder-properties to 777 . I thought this was enough

All works fine for me at the moment, but there is only one small problem. I do not get an error if you fill in a wrong verification of the images which is loaded. This is on both registry and contact me.

Perhaps I should post to some other forum part, but I was wondering if any of you have solved this problem?

hmm.. there is probably something wrong with the patch then. I'll check this when I have some spare time (I'm currently very busy with jfusion and the magento integration..)

I will just (I am not into PHP that much) to figure this out too. I think that I should be able to manage it a bit, there are some other parts of the form that work correctly, so I could compair the two.... I will let you know what my finding are!

Sorry but only the OST Wigit Captcha works. the BIGO Captcha still doesn't show the image.

Hi,

I've successfully added Bigo Captcha to com_contact on J!1.5.2. The image displays and no mail is sent when I enter no or the wrong captcha word.

One issue however still remains: Although I've added the captcha check in function submit() I do not get a single error message when using no captcha word at all or the wrong word. How do get an error message onto the screen?

I noticed however that I even do not get an error displayed when using a wrong email address.

Second is it possible when entering a wrong captcha word, pressing the send button that the input field are *not* cleared?

Hi,

actually I just followed those steps: http://www.joomla.com.br/blog/2008/01/22/how-to-add-captcha-to-joomlas-com_contact-component/

That said, I've modified the described files:
/administrator/components/com_contact/contact_items.xml
/components/com_contact/controller.php
/components/com_contact/views/contact/tmpl/default_form.php

running J!1.5.2. Of course, I previously installed plg_bigocaptcha-1.2.tar.gz from this link: http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,3499/Itemid,35/ and activated it.

However, I made some changes regarding the placement of the captcha image in default_form.php:
Code:
      <label id="contact_textmsg" for="contact_text">
            &nbsp;<?php echo JText::_( 'Enter your message' );?>:
         </label>
         <br />
         <textarea cols="50" rows="10" name="text" id="contact_text" class="inputbox required"></textarea>
         <?php if ($this->contact->params->get( 'show_email_copy' )) : ?>
         <br />
            <input type="checkbox" name="email_copy" id="contact_email_copy" value="1"  />
            <label for="contact_email_copy">
               <?php echo JText::_( 'EMAIL_A_COPY' ); ?>
            </label>
         <?php endif; ?>
         <br />
         <br />
         <!-- Bigo Captcha -->
               <?php if ($this->params->get('use_captcha')) { ?>
            <img src="index.php?option=com_contact&task=displaycaptcha&contact_id=<?php echo $this->contact->id; ?>">
            <br />
             <label id="contact_captchaword" for="word">
              &nbsp;<?php echo JText::_( 'Please enter the character sequence from above' );?>:
             </label>
            <br />
            <input type="text" name="word" />
            <br />
         <?php } ?>
         <br />
         <!-- END OF CAPTCHA -->
         <button class="button validate" type="submit"><?php echo JText::_('Send'); ?></button>
      </div>

That's all :D - as already mentioned I don't get any error messages but a reloading of the contact page when confirming a wrong captcha word.

Is there a particular line within these forms that I should place these? or will I be replacing the the entire document. Also, when I tried to edit the /administrator/components/com_contact/contact_items.xml file I was unable to make any changes to the document. How were you able to change yours ???
Thanks

No, don' t replace the entire document. I just posted some lines out of default_form.php. I inserted the following lines. Of course you could also copy them to a different place in default_form.php.
Code:
         <!-- Bigo Captcha -->
               <?php if ($this->params->get('use_captcha')) { ?>
            <img src="index.php?option=com_contact&task=displaycaptcha&contact_id=<?php echo $this->contact->id; ?>">
            <br />
             <label id="contact_captchaword" for="word">
              &nbsp;<?php echo JText::_( 'Please enter the character sequence from above' );?>:
             </label>
            <br />
            <input type="text" name="word" />
            <br />
         <?php } ?>
         <br />
         <!-- END OF CAPTCHA -->

Also, when I tried to edit the /administrator/components/com_contact/contact_items.xml file I was unable to make any changes to the document.

Do you mean you don't have any access rights to the file?

How were you able to change yours ???

I used a full featured text editor: PsPad (Freeware, btw) which is capable of loading files from any FTP server not only from local hard disk. This editor also uploads changed files again and can send CHMOD commands from an simple FTP browser. Of course any FTP client would do the job, too.

I've tried to install the plugin as well - using the installation instructions as provided here in different flavors - nothing happend, nothing was displayed. Re-checked the installation - should be fine.

So obvisously a little bit annoyed I cleaned up the files and de-installed the plugin again.

My idea regarding more precise installation insctructions:

In my opinion the installation instructions are a little bit too sloppy:

- No instruction whether the two functions altering controller.php have to be inserted inside the class construct or outside -

- Altering SUBMIT() - please describe the last code line where the altering has to be inserted after -

- In this forum is been read that default.php has to be altered - nothing to be read from this in the install instructions - or am I pretty wrong...? -

- No precise instruction at which line in the file default_form.php has to be altered.

One should imagine that a couple of people (like me) are a little bit used to reading php and/or C - but don't attempt in coding by theirselves... so I am very confused by reading the forum and getting this work working - what I did not archieve...!

So I would be pleased to get a detailed install instruction for this hopefully fine piece of code to get it working again - as I want to protect my site against spammers as well...

Thanks and best regards,
Thomas

Thomas,

as written above I had no problems when following the installation steps described here: http://www.joomla.com.br/blog/2008/01/22/how-to-add-captcha-to-joomlas-com_contact-component/

At the very end of the article you can even find a patch for the mentioned files. There you can located the lines where to insert the changed lines from the article.

Still having some problems that I don't get any error messages when using the wrong captcha word :(

Thanks, Michael, the link you've provided has been exactly the install instrcutions I've mentioned and used and which caused the confusion where to insert the lines...

The com_contact patch can't be opened by my winzip - header error...

Thomas

Hm, using Winzip 11.1 Pro I didn't had any problems with this file. Perhaps the 11.1 version can handle .gz and .tar files. I could unpack the files, properly zip them and send it to you via PM, if you are in need of it.

That would be very kind if you'd send me the files, Michael.

Thanks in advance,

Thomas,

could you please send me your private address using the forum message system? I cannot send it 'cause the message system does not allow sending zip files, unfortunately.

Hello,
I have downloaded the com_contact patch files and placed them in my com_contact folder. I checked them and it seems as though everything is where is supposed to be. My problem is that I cannot see the captcha image anywhere in my site. I really wanted to use the captcha in my regstration page and in yvcomment but have been unable to do so. I also tried to use another contact module, but it did not work there either. Can anyone help me please :'(

After being heavily annoyed this morning Michael hast sent me the com_contact patch files...

I've tried another install with the supplied files form the com_contact patch: But I did not replaced the whole directories which are placed in the file, only the requested admin/contact_items,xml, components/com_contact/controller.php and and /views/contact/tmpl/default_fom.php.

Nothing happend. No image is shown in the registration screen.

I am running J1.5.2 with siteground template. The plugin is activated.

What can I do or assist in to get ths d... thing working...?

Best regards,
Thomas

TO ALL CONCERNED,
After I used the com_patch the captcha was activated in yvcomment. I just need to know how to add it into my registration page for community builder. I need it to show up when registrants create a new account. Thanks in advance :p

How were you able to get it working on your contact page? When I used the patch files the captcha began working in yvcomment. Try refreshing your page, or log out and then log back on. I think I also restarted the server. If you could let me know how you got the captcha to work in contacts and do you have captcha in your registration page, if so how ???
