That's a shame that you'll miss Joomla!Day here. I do recommend keeping an eye out for other events that could possibly take place at that time. We've had bug squashing, template demos and doc camps here in Vancouver so it's always possible something could happen during the time you're in town.

I would love to come to a Joomla! day event

however I am all the way over here in the UK and have not the money to come and join you.

However i would like to make a formal request.

Could the Joomla! team please arrange for the event to be recorded and then uploaded for those of us that are unable to come.

Would love to see the various people talking about joomla and where at has been and is going.

personally would love to see everything but the main discusssions would be a great boost for me.

i am actually quite surprised that this hasnt been asked for before, or undertaken by the Joomla! team.

Thanks Guys

Richie

It has been, the last event I attended, see: http://joomladay.org.au/index.php?optio ... Itemid=104

I am sure in Vancouver, if possible, we will do the same thing.

Any official word on this yet? I'd like to book my flight and hotel, but am waiting on either registration, or something of those lines...

Hello all,

I was at Joomla! Day USA West last year at Google and it was great.

This is very tempting as I'm in Portland so Vancouver isn't too far away.

Is the consensus that this is going to serve as the North American west coast Joomla! Day for 2008 or are there others in the works? I haven't been able to find hints of anything else.

Thanks,
Chris

It is the only one that I know of so far. That said, it's only April so there's still a chance of seeing something else on the West Coast in 2008. I'm guessing that Vancouver Joomla!Day will be one of the larger ones for the year though.

I think that there is one in California in the works.

Well crap - thought I was going to get to go, but some stuff happened and now I can't. I purchased two 3-Day See Vancouver cards for the trip (http://www.seevancouvercard.com/index.html) - These were 139.99 Canadian Dollars each. Now that we can't go I'm looking to get rid of these things. If anyone's interested let me know and I can do an ebay auction for them (with paypal buyer protection) or whatever.

Flight booked, hotel booked, Traveler Guitar strung, MacBook humming along nicely. I can't wait to get back home to Canada - it has been too long.

Are we there yet? :D

Edit: For those not familiar with Traveler Guitars

We're only Two days away from Joomla! Day Vancouver!

For any last minute ticket buyers, we are *sold out* of tshirts but we still have tickets left if you are planning to attend Joomla!Day on Saturday.

Tickets are $25 each online until tomorrow night, and $30 at the door on Saturday. We have a ton of great presentations lined up from Joomla! Core Team and Working Group members, some time for mingling, networking and lots of opportunity to "ask the experts".

Come on out and have fun, enjoy some good food, and maybe even find yourself a winner of one of our door prizes :)

Location: Library Square Conference Centre at 350 West Georgia, Vancouver.
Time: 9:00am to 5:30pm
Register here: www.vancouver.joomla.ca

Is it really over? I'm sitting here wondering what exactly I should do now! Anthony, thanks so much for coming out to Vancouver. It was a pleasure to meet you. Really hope we see you back next year.

It was quite successful. The day itself, the scheduling, the food, venue, door prizes... it all went pretty smooth in the end. I think our final head count was 120, which we were very happy with.

We've got some good feedback so far, including suggestions for next year, which is awesome.

One thing I cannot express enough is that there is no way the day would have been a success without the contributions from our Presenters: Brad Baker, Chris Adams, Michelle Bisson, Levis Bisson, Steve Burge, Louis Landry, Jennifer Marriott, and Toni Marie Swats. Thanks so much you guys for sharing your presentations with us!

Also a big thanks to our sponsors who helped greatly to make things happen.

There are so many more kudos that need to be given out. I'll post an update on the Vancouver site sometime today. I'm still wrapping my thoughts around all of it.

I'm also looking forward to next year! In fact, I think in a couple months time I'll be starting the planning already. Any volunteers to help out, please send me a pm.

In the meantime, enjoy some pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/netphotogr ... 611974363/

I have to second the motion to DO IT ALL AGAIN! (how is next week for everyone?)

It was wonderful meeting all of you face to face. It is a trip I will cherish deeply. Thanks most definitely have to go to Wendy and Rastin for making the entire experience so absolutely wonderful.

PS: Glad you're home safe Brad. :)

I'm not home yet ;)

We leave tomorrow... not looking forward to the flight, but looking forward to my own bed. Grouse Mountain was great.. lots of clouds and snow up there though.. so we didn't have as good a view as we would have if we had gone yesterday.
