Re: East syriac language pack
Hello Pauls,
Anything precise question you have after installing 1.5 final and the Translation Manager, please ask.
There are no 2 letters code for Syriac. Only a 3 letter code
syr
and you could use Lebanon as country code (or any other country where there are Syriac speakers)
language could therefore be
syr-LB
As there are no other language (except classic syriac) using "sy"
we could I think safely use
sy-LB
as the name of the language for Joomla
What you think?

Re: East syriac language pack
Thank you for your attention
East syriac is most spoken in Iraq especialy in north of iraq, at the same time we have many syriac schools in iraq. Also many lives now in other countries. In syria, lebanon and turkey is most spoken the classic syriac language.
It is better to syr-IR
Thanks

Re: East syriac language pack
Iraq country code is IQ, not IR ,which is Iran.
Other issue is that the Translation Manager does NOT work with a 3 letters language code.
We are now discussing the issue of 3 letters code for language naming convention.
Until further advice, please use
sy-IQ

You do not have to have that line in your xml or ini files.ninwaya wrote: Thank you for information they were very importan to me.

It refers to the SVN # when that file was last modified in Core.

Re: East syriac language pack
You will be happy to learn that Igevans has updated his Translation Component to accept a 3 letters language code.
Therefore you may switch your packages to syr-IQ
We are also now working on releasing for 1.5.2 a new tcpdf library that will make RTL pdf.
AND, most of all, we have devised a way to get rid of the locale issue for any language, whatever the host. So, you will be able to get dates in Syriac language on a Syriac site.
It would still be Gregorian though but that could be customized with some coding ability.
Also this post may help you:

Re: East syriac language pack
Little confusion. Do you mean that i must copy all language files in site, installation and administration of subvirsion developing site to my computer and translate them or i shall translate with my language in the subvirsion site? How about the files i have translated until now? Pleas explain little more in details.

Re: East syriac language pack
Confusion indeed. SVN is used to keep up to date with current development.
SVN requires using tortoise or another app as easyeclipse.
This SVN concerns core files and has nothing to do with your own language files.
But the English language files are up to date in the latest SVN,
As many changes have been done in latest SVN (what will be 1.5.2), I suggest you work using it instead of 1.5.1
Install this nightly build (+ the language component, if you use it):
http://dev.joomla.org/nightly/joomla_1. ... ackage.zip
Just add your language packs in that install.
You will see that now you get a Gregorian Syriac date, grace to your language files.

Re: East syriac language pack
The locale are no more necessary with the current svn (i.e. for 1.5.2), but something should be present in the tag, like this:ninwaya wrote:Thanks for your help and informations. I going to work with last version.

sy_IQ.utf8, sy_IQ.UTF-8, sy_IQ, syr_IQ, syriac
As these locales are anyway no available on any server, they are just there as references for the future

Hello, Pauls.
Yes you can, although only one of them is now necessary since 1.5.2 as anyway the locales are now independent from the server and months, days are taken from the main ini files.

No problem here.
What are you trying to install or uninstall?
Do you have the same fault for every extension?

Re: East syriac language pack
Pauls,
you may have a corruption somewhere.
Best is to override all the files with a clean SVN or 1.5.3 by ftp or CPanel (after saving any core files you may have modified)
