how to change html title block
WE just created a new site with Joomla 1.5 having used 1.0 previously. I'm trying to change the title that shows up on the title bar from Welcome to the front page to something else. We're using the milkyway template and I've changed the system preferences. Can someone point me in the right direction please?
Thanks Leon

Re: how to change html title block
If I understand your question correctly, the Front Page title is changed by using the administration interface, going to the menu manager for "main menu" and edit the configuration for "Home". It's not a template issue.

Hi there...thanks for the reply. Yes that is correct but it doesn't change it. I looked through some old posts here and see others have had same problem without being resolved.
Thanks leon

Re: how to change html title block
I got the same problem.
I cant seem to edit it no matter where i go.
Is their a way to do it and is their a way to put a banner in its place or just above your main article on the homepage?
Thanks nova.

Re: how to change html title block
Edit the Home menu item on your main menu (in administrator > menu manager). Look for the system parameters on the right, either disable or change the text.

Re: how to change html title block
This one has bugged me for a while too - it's probably the first thing a new user will want to change after a fresh install, but it is ridiculously hard to find. So follow along, this works:
- Click on Menu Manager
- In the next screen, in the row for Main Menu, click on the icon in the Menu Items(s) column
- Click on Home
- On the right side of the screen, click on Parameters - System
- Edit the content next to PageTitle

Re: how to change html title block
I think it took me four hours each on two separate installs ( it was several months between and I forgot!). I hope somebody in the programming department gets this.optixit wrote:I have been sitting here for 5 hours flat and eventually came uppon your post. Thanks. It worked. Re: how to change html title block
Hi everybody,
I have installed RWcards in one of my joomla page. Now whenever I am going to Manu Manager->Main menu this menu item type is showing 'url' & this page is not taking the title field and taking some other text. I am not getting from where these texts are coming.
Will you please help me out?? Thanks in advance.

Re: how to change html title block
What I don't get about this is the template is set so that pagetitle is also placed at the header of the page, which is gaudy looking. Can anyone help me figure out how to keep the pagetitle in the title bar, but NOT have it show up as my header?

Re: how to change html title block
Follow the instructions above for changing the Title Block, and while you still have the Parameters - System box open go to the radio button that says Show Page Title - click no, Save it and Preview your site to see if it disappears.Foxjoomla wrote:What I don't get about this is the template is set so that pagetitle is also placed at the header of the page, which is gaudy looking. Re: how to change html title block
Thanks seattleslew,
I wanted to change the title for the front page.
I had been searching in articles, all the menu excepting Main default menu.
Then Google led me to this forum and I got solutions to change the title of front page which was actually coming from default menu.
Thanks for your effort.
Regards,
Web-Farmer

Pretty intuitive huh? Personally, I think they should put this one in the Global Configuration screen, right next to the meta data.

Re: how to change html title block
i have a weird problem. although all the title tags are showing the correct title through the Parameters (System) , when i change the title in "HOME" parameter(System) , i always get the same title tag in my browser which is "HOME" . if i set another category in my menu as Default Homepage it changes the title tab again at "HOME" .
Any thoughts? sorry for wrong english!

Re: how to change html title block
I had the same problem on my 1.7 site. It's not in parameters anymore, they have a section called "Page Display Options." All you have to do now is say no to "Show Page Heading"
Seems to be a bit easier now, looks like they listened to you guys

Im using Joomla 1.7, I've tried all of these and still no luck. This version does not have a"Parameters >> System" option. I changed display page heading to NO, but how do I put a new page Title there?

The setting for the Page Title is located in the parameters of each Menu Item under "Parameters (System)".
For Example to change the Page Title for the Home page of the Sample web site, (Welcome to the Front Page) you would navigate to
Menus / Main Menu, click on "Home" to open the Menu Item:[Edit] screen.
Then click on "Parameters (System)" to show the System Parameters,
and either change the "Page Title" parameter or set "Show Page Title" to "No".
