remove copyright info at the bottom
Cheers!
Is it possible to remove the following from the bottom of the index page:
Copyright © 2008 domaine.com. All Rights Reserved.
Joomla! is Free Software released under the GNU/GPL License.
Would very much appreciate a response, thanks in advance.

Re: remove copyright info at the bottom
I am new to Joomla myself. Reading through the various forums I thought people's questions that were answered with "search the forums" and "read the documentation" were a little cruel because peoples questions weren't being answered. I have come to realize that a quick answer does you no good. Joomla is too big a package for simple one line answers, you really do have to search the forums and read the documentation. Failure to do a little research, will lead to major frustrations when posting questions that aren't being answered, and there will be a lot of questions.
I have installed, deleted everything, and reinstalled Joomla 1.5.7 on my PC using XAMPP, more than once, I have installed it with and without the sample data while learning how everything relates. It has been an experience, and like you, I had questions.
I was tempted to ask those questions here, but decided to take a little time and do my research. I found every answer I needed is in the documentation or here on the forums. I can understand why people get tired of answering the same questions over and over when the answers already exists in several locations on the Joomla site.
IMHO - Take time and learn, first by reading the Beginners Guide and searching this forum. I plan to put up a website using Joomla but not for at least 2-3 months while I learn how Joomla works. I don't doubt that I'll be deleting and reinstalling a few more times before I'm ready to go live.
Take care and good luck!

you can just disable the footer module from the module manager

Re: remove copyright info at the bottom
I don't think LivingCoastal want's to disable the footer. He was asking how to remove the second line of the footer that contains "Joomla! is Free Software released under the GNU/GPL License." As stated before, the information is already posted severl times on these forums. But if he does want to totally remove the footer, you are correct.

It seems like he wants to disable more then just the line you said.LivingCoastal wrote:Cheers!

and you are right it is probably listed all over the forum however I don't see that as a reason not answer someone. It is the same amount of effort to say that as it is to help them
That said, I hope this helps

You need to remove it from templates\rhuk_milkyway\index.php
At the very bottom of the file you will find it.

It only remove from the very bottom of the page like powered by joomla.... xhtml....css etc.
Not the same you talk about.
Here is the key:
First:
Go to the root fold Of Joomla >> languages >>en-GB/ en-GB.mod_footer.ini || modify it there.
FOOTER=Footer
FOOTER_LINE1=Copyright © %date% %sitename%. All Rights Reserved.
FOOTER_LINE2=<a href="http://www.joomla.org">Joomla!</a> is Free Software released under the <a href="http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-2.0.html">GNU/GPL License.</a>
MOD_FOOTER=<em>mod_footer</em>
THIS MODULE SHOWS THE JOOMLA! COPYRIGHT INFORMATION=This Module shows the Joomla! Copyright information
Second:
Go to yourtemplate/index.php >> bottom of page || change it there.
<p id="power_by">
<?php echo JText::_('Powered by') ?> <a href="http://www.joomla.org">Joomla!</a>.
<?php echo JText::_('Valid') ?> <a href="http://validator.w3.org/check/referer">XHTML</a> <?php echo JText::_('and') ?> <a href="http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/chec ... er">CSS</a>
</p>

Re: remove copyright info at the bottom
Because you need to modify footer.ini file too.
Why? Because index.php calls footer.ini.
Or you can remove the whole "power_by" tag.
But don't forget, we talk about root/templates/your_template/index.php!

Re: remove copyright info at the bottom
I'm glad to hear that you are making progress learning Joomla and that this problem is resolved.
Once a problem is resolved, it is generally considered good form to go back to your original post. At the beginning of the subject line add the word [SOLVED!] and the green circle/checkmark icon.

Re: remove copyright info at the bottom
I have tried and seem to have completed all of the steps taken here. WITH NO SUCCESS! One slight difference as I see this is a thread that covers specifically the Milky Way theme. I do not need to edit the front of my sight as my template from Rocket theme has its own content that I have tackled editing. However I want to remove this info from the bottom of the admin login and all of the admin back office pages.
Please Help! I have checked and re-checked... The only thing I haven't been able to find per "Vollover's" instructions is the info via Step two. I went through all of the index files and have not found the info.
Overall I would prefer to put other text here, so it seems the editing of the mod_footter.ini would be the solution. Yet I have done this and nothing has changed...

Re: remove copyright info at the bottom
Hi Guys,
I am a newbie in joomla & just was trying to follow the step to remove the copyright. But I can still see the FOOTER_LINE2 in my site footer. However the copyright already removed except FOOTER_LINE2.
Can anyone help me what should I do?
Thanks.

After struggling with this issue for 5 straight hours, I found the damn thing in
templates/template_name/blocks/footer.php
there you can edit/remove whatever you want...

Re: remove copyright info at the bottom
check this places start from 1 if cannot goto next:
1-in index.php of default template try to find text
2-in the teme folder see if exist folder html and edit component.php or footer.php
3-maybe modules in footer positions go to modules and see position=footer.
4-in language setting file .ini of template maybe writed in en-GB or others folder in language folder.
of can not found real text in files try to find base64_decode. maybe theme writter used php encode functions to generate footer copyright.
if can not use css to hide it or java or jquery to kill or null html object of footer.
