Re: how to hide menu in Joomla?
Go to menu manager in admin from "menu " In menu manager, click the menu item on relative menu. Detail of menu will display. Check the published icon which menu You want to not display. You check the unpublished.
The Menu Manager [ Other Menu ] is the controller of the Other Menu. The Other Menu is visible to all Users (Public) of the web site by default, but this can be changed in the Access settings. See below.
The Other Menu and how it displays in the Front-end - as with all Menus - is created using a copy of the Module mod_mainmenu. This is triggered automatically when creating a New Menu in the Menu Manager .
In the default installation of Joomla! the Other Menu is published without its title showing. In this way it can appear to simply be an extension of another menu, yet still retaining separate control of settings and Content. This setting is controlled in Module Manager [ Site ] - > Other Menu.
The Other Menu appears in the Module Manager [ Site ] under the Module name given to it during creation - Other Menu.
Toolbar:

Publish: Check the check box next to the Menu Item that is to be published (displayed) in the Menu. Then click the Publish icon. Multiple Menu Items may be selected.
Unpublish: Check the check box next to the Menu Item that is to be unpublished (not displayed) from the Menu. Multiple Menu Items may be selected. Then click the Unpublish 'icon. Unpublishing a Menu Item does not delete it.

Hi...
For do that, you MUST edit Template.css (difficult enough), because that default template is have Left module and you must delete it (modify default template).
Try visit http://www.scribd.com/doc/2300042/Jooml ... t-Template

Re: how to hide menu in Joomla?
The left position have a fixed width. Remove the width, so it will collapse when no module is present.

Re: how to hide menu in Joomla?
Hi,
You can set the width of #leftcoloumn as auto in the template.css file, if you are using rhuk_milkyway. It dooes not requires any code. Just go to Joomla_root/templates/rhuk_milkyway/css/template.css. For beez template its #left tag used. If you want to handle the css easily, you can use firebug extension in mozilla firefox.
