After hours of searchs and tries the Bigo-Captcha still will not work. I will get the "The word for verification. Lowercase letters only with no spaces." Message instead of the image.

Safe Mode: Off
Joomla: 1.5.8
PHP: 5.2.6

SEO: On and off
mod_rewrite: No

Captcha plugin is active
Yvcomment is configured properly
Use Captcha: Yes
Delay Captcha Image : NO (tried also YES)

Single ftp copy of the php files
GD Support: enabled

Generated html code for the picture:

Code: Select all

<img
	            		 src='/index.php/component/yvcomment/?task=displaycaptcha'	            	  alt='Bild, welches den Sicherheitscode enthält' />
Any more ideas ?

Gee. Maybe I've finally got it right this time posting on *this* thread instead of creating a new topic.

I'm having an issue with Bigo and yvComment. Here's what happening.

1. yvComment appears to be setup correctly to work with Bigo.

2. I have yvComment setup to use a guest account which requires no login.

3. I have some additional user accounts which are used for the administrator, editing blog posts from the front end, etc.

4. As long as no user is logged into the site the captcha appears fine when you attempt to post a comment to a blog post.

5. If a user logs in into the front end with any of the other user accounts the captcha doesn't appear if a user attempts to post a comment. This occurs even if the user logs into the front end in a web session different from the session in which the comments are being posted.

I would appreciate it if you could give me some input about where to go from here.

Thanks.

almost a year now has passed since anyone posted to this forum, but the bigo captcha is still the captcha of choice for the increasingly popular yvComment (and extension with a future) .. should this forum be revived or is there something newer already underway?

Not sure where you got your information from. Several people, including me, have quite a bit to this forum over the last few weeks.

a) install yvComment first, then Bigo? or
b) install Bigo first, then yvComment? or
c) doesn't matter?

I don't think it matters but I *think* I installed yvComment first.

I don't think there are updated Bigo files for Joomla 1.5.9. If you look at the download link at extensions.joomla.org or the Bigo website, it still shows that Bigo 1.2 (which is now over a year old) is the current version.

That said, I just installed the Joomla 1.5.9 upgrade to a live site and Bigo seems to be working fine with it.

Hi, Rick Smith!
This is "by design" :)
From yvComment's Homepage:
Please note, that yvComment uses Captcha extension for posting comments by unregistered users (i.e. guests) only.

Ok BIGO Captcha is working on my Contact page...

I used the files here:
http://www.sol22.com/elibrary/1-web-dev ... a-158.html

Only thing is... how can I get a notification to the user if they forget to input anything into the captcha, because its not clear if the email was sent or not. :pop

I can't seem to get it to work with the Signal Login. It worked fine with the regular login. Can I fix this somehow?

SOLVED: Bigo Captcha

Post by markoadams » Sat Jan 31, 2009 3:00 am

I've noticed that many people have had similar problems to what I experienced in getting this to work. My original post is below - implemented the plugin and hacked system files but the image wasn't showing. Following some hints found elsewhere in this forum and on php forum my ISP was able to determine that GD and/or freetype were not compiled properly in the version of apache used on the server. So php was reporting that these extensions were enabled but really they were not working. My ISP helpfully recompiled and TADA - now it works. Thanks to all for the hints and of course for the plugin - it's great now that it works!! 8)

----------------------------------------------------------------

Hi, I followed the English instructions linked in this forum (http://www.sol22.com/elibrary/1-web-dev ... a-158.html) - installed the plugin, copied the files over. Checked out the registration page, and instead of seeing a captcha I see the infamous red X - the system can't find the image. I checked the properties on the unfound image: http://dontgetlost.ca/index.php?option= ... laycaptcha.

So, can someone tell me what I have done wrong? Is there a setting somewhere or a dependency on other software to create the image?

Thanks in advance for assistance!!

Damn! I followed the instruction by Websith at www.sol22.com to the letter (on 1.5.9)

I find that it worked straight off on the registration form ( :D ) but it is not showing on the contact form BUT I still get the dreaded 'You have not entered ...' message.

Any ideas?

This captcha looks like the way to go, but has anybody figured out how to retain the user's text input when their captcha input was incorrect? I tried a couple of demo contacts on sites running this and I have to say, I'd be royally miffed to lose my entire message just because I made a typo. Good for spammers but not too (legitimate) user-friendly.

At the same time, this is the most legible captcha I've run into in a long time. Some so obliterate the image text that I've given up in frustration after the 4th or 5th unsuccessful attempt.

Is there a way or a user that tried to implement this plug into Virtuemart?

Thanks

I installed plugin, copied modified files and it works on default joomla template.

But when I use a Yootheme Way Beyond template, nothing shows.

It works - when I try contact or register form it asks for captcha code, but there is no image or input field.

My website address is www.noobclub.org

Anybody have idea how to fix this?

p.s. it's joomla 1.5.9

Hi hope you can help.

Have installed J 1.5.9 + bigocaptcha + contacts components & patch

All were working fine on localhost. Transfered to another local host - all working fine. Got captcha in my survey & contacts.

Transfered to my live server and it creates a space for the image , but no image. It appears to work, as it gives me 'wrong captcha ' message.

Live server is Linux with php 5. Safe mode off.

In firefox it creates a blank space, in IE it gives me a square with a red cross.

Any ideas.

UPDATE - found out it is the server - they do not and at the moment cannot enable GD. Is there a work around for this?

If not i will have to disable bigo for the moment. But now how do i get rid of captcha on my contact page. I used the patch - and i cannot find anywhere to turn it off. Even though i have disabled it.
HELP please

Hey

I hope some one can help me out.
I have installed bigo captcha plugin 1.5.9 (downloaded directly from http://www.sol22.com), to use together with yvcomments for my blog.

But I only get the text "The word for verification. Lowercase letters only with no space".

I have followed the instructions for installation of both yvcomments and bigo captcha,
and copied the php files one by one with ftp.

I have got the yvcomments to work as it should without the captcha.
Captcha plugin is enabled.
Yvcomment is configured with Yes on use Captcha,
and I have tried both Yes and No on Delay Captcha Image

Why is no captcha picture showing?
What can I have missed? What can I try? Any tips is welcome...

I'm no expert in webdesign and joomla, but understand quite well. Even more new in php, but understand the logic thinking of programing. Hope that's enough right now :)
