How to change font size in articles

Hi there, I have searched this topic, seen some replies on how to edit the code in the TinyMCE but can't see where to actually do that. I would like to be able to edit some of my font sizes in the WYSIWYG editor when typing out text but that option is not available. I can change fonts, colours, headings, etc but not the font size. Is there a way around this?

Hi Robin.

What setting do you have for your TinyMCE Functionality parameter? It is set in the Admin Area: Extensions -> Plugin Mamager -> Editor TinyMCE -> Basic Parameters.

If it is not Advanced set it to that.

You should see the Icon for changing Font sizes on the Editor Toolbar strips. The Icons lok like MS Word, basically.

Do you see the editor with toolbar strips?

Can you send me a snapshot of the screen when you are editing an Article. We are on the right track. I use all of the editors daily.

If you have not sent snapshots before, hit the preview button below to get to an more complete post entry screen. Then use the Browse button to find the image you make, use the add file to upload and the in line to add to the article.

We will get you going. You are asking for a basic capability.

Hi there, here is a screen shot. It is full of blah blah blah's lol as I was working through the beginner guide tut the other day and have just been playing around since, trying to learn the system.

If you use the format list on the top Toolbar of the editor the sizes are in HTML nomenclature. Heding1, Heading2 , ...

Here is an example:

You can try them out to get a feel for the sizes. You highlight then select from the format list to change the size.

Thanks dpminusa, I knew how to do that but wanted to be able to have more options ie 16pt, 48pt, etc.

OK. You can define your own css file and use the custom option to have it available to you.

You may want to try that. That is what I eventually did for my authors.

This is in the Admin pages, extensions menu, plugin manager, editor - TinyMCE, Parameters screen.

If you are not comfortable with css, and have MS XP or Vista, use the Expressions program to build the file. It is very tutorial. There are a lot of help and intellisense screens.

If you need more, Google "css tutorials".
