Hi,

I have several articles I am publishing to my site. In the article parameters I have selected the article rating to be shown. On these articles I can see the rating buttons at the top of the article, but when I try to rate the article, I don't see that the site is accepting my rating. Do I need to turn something on elseware on the site? In my Joomla book (for joomla 1.0) it says I need to go to the article manager and select the configuration. I don't have this option in article manager of 1.5. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to make the reating work?

Thanks,
Anna

Same thing Here, The rating radio input and result was there, I was able to choose to vote and receive the thanks message, but no changes to the results???????

Now it seem to work!

Try this!
• Be sure that if you have Menu link type article (in the Menu administration pane) that link to the page where your article rating is, the Parameters-Component—> Article Rating/Voting is set to use Global

• Go to Content (in the Menu administration pane) —> Article Manager —> Parameters put Article Rating/Voting set to Show and save the configuration.

Now you can turn Article rating on & off in the individual Article Edit in the Parameters - Advanced —> Article Rating Show or Hide.

The articles I dont want to have rating are set to Hide in the Article Edit and the one I want Rated are turn to Show

I followed the instructions in this thread and get this error when I vote:

Code:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: stripos() in /home/.cattia/qoffa/qoffa/libraries/joomla/environment/uri.php on line 675

Anyone encounter this before or know how to fix the problem?

For my case, i have the ratings show on the frontpage, but when i click on the individual articles, the rating is gone. The only way i know to let them show up in individual articles is to set the parameters (advance) from global to show for each every one which is very tedious.

I wonder is any other way out.

I've carefully followed all the advice given in the last several posts, but initially the rating system only displays on individual article pages -- not on my frontpage or other Category and Section pages.

But the trick is that after someone places a vote, the rating system shows up on all pages the article appear on.

How can I make it appear all the time, in all situations?

My symptoms are a bit different but I also get spurious appearance of the ratings.

Have you found a cure yet ?

Ugh. I didn't really test the rating system much before installing VOTItaly. At the time I installed that plugin I'd only voted on a single article. After installing the extension that is the ONLY article that shows ratings. I removed the VOTItaly but the problem remains. I've changed the global parameters, the article parameters, the menu parameters, reinstalled the plugin, used the default rating system, but nothing seems to fix this.

I know there's a setting in VOTItaly that has a note about changing it after the first vote so I suspect the issue might have something to do with that piece of code, but I haven't had a chance to dive in yet.

Are we all doomed to go without article ratings now or has someone found a guru with the right fix?

I found that you actually have to vote on an article in order for an entry to be made for it in the content-rating table in the database. If you are viewing an article in a summary, it won't show the voting stars. You must go to the article page, where you'd see the option to vote. At that point, you can cast a vote, then go back to your summary view, and the voting stars should show up there.

IMHO: It would be nice if VOTItaly would allow "zero" votes to be cast. Then you would not have to vote on something in order for the voting stars to show up.

Actually it's a problem with Joomla itself. When an article is added, it should add the article id number to the jos_content_rating table in the database but it doesn't. You can do it manually, just insert a record with the content_id number within that table and you will have your zero votes.

I was having the same issue as you all, but I figured out this work around.

Hi I am using 1.5.22 and having problems with the default Joomla rating.

When turned on Globally it works ok however it is on all pages of my site and I only need it for about an 8th of my site. So I turned it off Globally and turned it on for the specific articles.

The User Rating: oooooo/0 shows up on the page and the part for the user to select their rating between Poor O O O O O Best -> Rate also shows.

The user selects a rating, clicks on the Rate button and gets a message saying thanks for your vote. The page however does not change the User Rating: oooooo/0.

No colour and no /1 to show that a vote has occurred. If the user goes away and back to the page and tries to vote again it says that you have already voted.

Thanks

Go to "Parameters" setting on the "Article manager"

Make sure in the Global Setting the "Rating" is on - i.e. "Show"

This way it will automatically show up in all the places any article is displayed. Seems like like in your case the global setting is off and you have put it on for the Home Page setting to show.

Just wanna contribute to this issue.
Check your Cache setting. You can clear the cache to see the Voting Result!!
You can see it in my site http://video.viethome.co.uk
'cause you we cache, the result will be shown after the cache expire
