Remove Front Page

Post by marklandry » Wed Mar 11, 2009 4:53 am

Hi,
Is there any way to get rid of the front page altogether. I'd like to be able to display only the main (horizontal) menu, a header-type graphic below that, and a few modules lined up horizontally below that. I've searched the forum but didn't see anything.
Thanx!

Default Home Menu Type is set to "Front Page Layout" as you want to change the Front Page Layout
Then Just Change Your Menu Link "Home" Menu Type to 'Articles' Or Section Blog Layout whatever you need.....

I'd actually like to get rid of any articles, article layouts, basically anything with text. I've had some luck setting the home menu item to "front page," then removing all articles from the front page manager, then going into the css for my template and setting minimum heights to "0". But there's an element called ".floatbox" that's about 1px high that I can't get rid of without all other articles going blank. ????
Here's the url if you want to take a look.

Mark,

If I was going to do what you have there, I wouldn't change the template. What I would do is create a CUSTOM HTML MODULE and post the HTML (and CSS if you want) for that image you have on the page. Then I would make sure that no other module or component is publish to the HOME page. This is done by going into each of them that are active and CTRL clicking off the HOME page in the box where all the links are. By changing your template you will make it difficult to have additional pages show up properly.
Does this make sense?

I have the same problem and I cannot figure out how to remove the white background under my graphics.

I changed the home link to an empty article but of course this still leaves me with an empty box.

Thanking you in advance.

Editing index.php solved my problem:
<!-- <div id="ja-current-content" class="clearfix"> -->

For all the other pages I used Custom Html.
