Mailer: smtp server
Mail from: [email protected]
From Name : [email protected]
Sendmail Path: /usr/sbin/sendmail
SMTP Authentication X No Yes
SMTP Username [email protected]
SMTP Password *****
SMTP Host: smtpout.secureserver.net (a GoDaddy.com account)

Re: Setting up smtp email to send Registration Welcome Emails
Right on! Thanks.
Your wording was misleading. You said to “update your SMTP Host to this” instead of saying “use the following SMTP Host setting”. I spent some time trying to “update” my GoDaddy account with no success. Not seeing a way to do it I just inserted “relay-hosting.secureserver.net” in place of “smtpout.secureserver.net” in the "SMTP Host" setting. And, it worked!

You are welcome. Your assistance is greatly appreciated!
By any chance could I have found the solution at the GoDaddy.com website in the Help area?

The information is in the GoDaddy Help Center in an article titled "What email or relay server should I use in my PHP code?"

Yes it is. Here are my settings.GDHosting wrote:Red,

Even with the above settings, no form works. Breezing forms, qContacts, standard contacts component. I really need to get this up. What am I doing wrong? Is there a way just to use PHPMail Function (like on every other host I have ever used)?Mailer: SMTP Server
Mail from: [email protected]
From Name: [email protected]
Sendmail Path: /usr/sbin/sendmail
SMTP Authentication: XNo Yes
SMTP Username: [email protected]
SMTP Password: *****
SMTP Host: relay-hosting.secureserver.net
Thanks,

Red,
Yes, you can use PHPMail with GoDaddy.com's Linux hosting.
If you would like us to take a look at your current configuration, please PM us your domain name.

Re: Setting up smtp email to send Registration Welcome Emails
Joomla on Godaddy shared hosting solution:
Go to Joomla > Global Configuration > Server > Mail Setting :
Mailer - SMTP Server
Mail from - full email address
From Name - any text for greetings
Sendmail Path - you can delete this as long as you are using SMTP server
SMTP Authentication No Yes: select YES
SMTP Security - None
SMTP Port - 80 (works! other one's, say 25, 465, 587 does not work for gmail and yahoo....etc )
SMTP Username - full email address
SMTP Password - password
SMTP Host - smtpout.secureserver.net (for godaddy), other one can be found in "Manage Email" section of your cpanel
http://creative.techlab23.info/creative ... &Itemid=11
On the site above, i have used CK form component for the form.
Hope this helps, it is kind of confusing when you are using free email service. Moreover, there are many combination to try to. I spent 4.5 hours last night, and this afternoon it started working in 5 minutes. I am sure it is not a constructive solution. But happy to share this.
So really, good luck!

Re: Setting up smtp email to send Registration Welcome Emails
Hello Everyone!
I really need some help here if possible. I've tried all of the suggestions above and I'm still not having any luck. The contact us pages on my website at http://lodihistory.com doesn't send emails and throws a variety of errors depending on how I set the email settings in the global config.
I'm on GoDaddy Shared Hosting (deluxe account)
Windows IIS 7.0
Net Runtime Version: ASP.Net 2.0/3.0/3.5
PHP Version: PHP 5.x
The email setting in my global config are set up like this:
Mailer SMTP Server
Mail from [email protected]
From Name Lodi History.com
Sendmail Path /usr/sbin/sendmail
SMTP Authentication No Yes (is set to YES)
SMTP Security None
SMTP Port 80
SMTP Username [email protected]
SMTP Password MYPASSWORDxxx
SMTP Host relay-hosting.secureserver.net
After you fill in the forms on the contact us page it throws this error:
SMTP Error! Could not connect to SMTP host.
Thanks you for your email.
I've been able to send and receive email using Outlook so I believe that the SMTP settings are correct but as far as my website goes ... no joy.
Just wondering if there is anything else I'm missing or perhaps anything else that could interfere with the email. I've been able to slowly find my way through all my problems so far (most have been a lack of understanding on my part) but this one has me stumped...
thanks!

SOLVED Setting up smtp email to send Registration Welcome Em
Guys
After about a week of reading through all the posts on this error,i finally figured it out after piecing all the suggestions together. Now i will work you through how i resolved this issue.
First, go to user manager
site>user manager>new
Name : Anything
username : admin (e.g)
E-mail : [email protected] (this email must exit on your host account and if the name of your site is www.me.com, the emails that will work are only those created with this domain name)
Fill other parameters and save
Secondly, go to contacts
components>contacts>contacts>new
Name : admin (must match the username in the USER MANAGER)
Linked to user: select admin
under the information tab
Email: [email protected]
Fill other parameters and save
thirdly,go to global configuration
site>global configuration>server>mail settings
Mailer : SMTP Server
Mail from: [email protected]
From Name : anything
Sendmail Path : /usr/sbin/sendmail
SMTP Authentication: No Yes ( set to NO)
SMTP Security: None
SMTP Port : 25
SMTP Username: [email protected]
SMTP Password: MYPASSWORDxxx
SMTP Host relay-hosting.secureserver.net (this is for godaddy cause i use godaddy)
I have tried these now on ten joomla sites and it worked.
have fun

I have run into this same issue with a twist. My site is hosted elsewhere, but my email service is through godaddy. I have tried using the settings above but I continue to get the error "cannot connect to smtp host"
Is there anything additional that I would need to do?

I've simply logged in to say a huge THANK YOU!
I've been trying to fix this for weeks, and it turns out that I had @xx.co.nz instead of @xx.school.nz in the mail settings! Such a simple fix that has caused many, many problems.
Thanks a bunch!
