When you edit the plugin in the back-end, all instructions are displayed.

Concerning uploading mp3, this should be authorized in your global configuration.

We are still having a problem. We have enabled the plugin and gone to global config and as far as we know we have set it right in the config. We have created a folder in media manager for the mp3 and tried uploading amp3 and after a while an error meesage apprears 'please input a file toupload'. Now as for editing the plugin this is what it says:

Name:
Enabled: No Yes
Type: content
Plugin File: .php
Access Level: PublicRegisteredSpecial
Order: 0 First0 (JosDewPlayer)2 (Content - Page Navigation)4 (Content -Rating)5 (Content - Email Cloaking)6 (Content - Load Module)7 Last
Description: Native MP3 player for Joomla 1.5.x
The general parameters can be overriden in content.

Simple usage is {play}path-to-file-based-on-joomla-root/mymusic.mp3{/play}
If mymusic.mp3 is in images/stories/ it gives{play}images/stories/mymusic.mp3{/play}
To override parameters locally, add a "|" between each parameters

[AUTOPLAY]
#xxxxxx[BGCOLOR]
[AUTOREPLAY]

Example using the 3 parameters:
{play}images/stories/mymusic.mp3|[AUTOPLAY]|#000000[BGCOLOR]|[AUTOREPLAY]{/play}

New in version 1.6:
josdewplayer may now play a mp3 file wherever it is on the Net. Just makesure in that case to use the full url of the source (it has to contain"http"), even if it is on the same server as your Joomla site.i.e. {play}http://anysite.com/anyfolder/mymusic.mp3{/play}

New in version 1.7:josdewplayer may now play multiple mp3. A set of arrows lets pass from oneto the other. mp3 can be local or remote, using the same parameters asversion 1.6. Use the Star as separator: *

Example: {play}images/stories/mymusic.mp3*http://anysite.com/anyfolder/mymusic.mp3*images/stories/anothermusic.mp3|[AUTOPLAY]{/play}

Can you give me a bit more advice please i.e. do I need to install amodule? If so which one please or do I need to make one up, if so how please?

1, Not being able to upload a mp3 is not josdewplayer related.
The extension mp3 has to be added in Global Configuration->Media parameters
It may be necessary to desactivate MIME
You have also to be sure the folder to which you want to upload has the correct permissions.

2. What do you not understand in the instructions?
A content plugin is used in an article and does not need a module.
Just enter the necessary code into an article, as explained.

Thanks, should the correct permissions be 644 or 777?

I didn't think I needed a module but just wanted to check so thanks for confirming that.

Yes, as long as the folder is readable.
never use 777
depending on hosts 755 is usual for folders.

Your folders and the file have to be readable.

We are using 755 but it hasn't made it readable so we are giving on trying to use josdewplayer and will search out for something else to use.

Thanks for your help anyway.

One last question as we want to make certain we're putting it in correctly in global config under legal extensions. We have got it just as mp3, should it be audiomp3?

it is mp3... as stated above.
But you have another issue with file name or file permission, which is not related to this as you ftped the file to your site.

Using another player will bring the same issue.

Hi there, I installed josdewplayer as a plugin in joomla on my local machine and it works just fine, but when I installed it on my live server, it doesn't display the player.
I don't know what's wrong with this, the plugin is enabled and the source code shows the plugin as below:
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://joomlatest.elhaq.com/plugins/content/dewplayer.swf?son=http://joomlatest.elhaq.com/images/stories/mp3/mysticism_islam.mp3&amp;autoplay=0&amp;autoreplay=0" width="200" height="20" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> <param name="movie" value="http://joomlatest.elhaq.com/plugins/content/dewplayer.swf?son=http://joomlatest.elhaq.com/images/stories/mp3/mysticism_islam.mp3&amp;autoplay=0&amp;autoreplay=0" /></object>
but still doesn't display on my site.
Can anyone help please?

You may have to check if the file plugins/content/dewplayer.swf is present.
Also check the permissions for
plugins/
plugins/content/
and the file itself

Thank you infograf768 for your quick reply.
The plugins/content/dewplayer.swf is present and I can see it using a direct link:
http://joomlatest.elhaq.com/plugins/con ... player.swf
and the media file is playing using a direct link too:
http://joomlatest.elhaq.com/images/stor ... zalude.mp3
and this is the link to my article where I added the plugin:
http://joomlatest.elhaq.com/index.php?o ... &Itemid=15
but I'm new to Joomla, and I couldn't find where to check the permissions for the
plugins/
plugins/content/
and the file itself

would you please direct me in these?

I can access your mp3 and your swf, which means permissions are Ok.

Oh, I'm changing permissions of the folders you mentioned to 777 using filezilla, would that make any security issue, and how can i return them back?

I was having a lot of trouble getting the file to play until I renamed the file and removed the underscore. It had a name like music_file_1.mp3. I changed the name to file1.mp3 and it started working immediately.

Check it out at skydivebigsky.ca.

Hope this helps someone else.

Hello,

Is there any way that I can change the background color of the play bar? So I do not mean the background color of the player itself. Please refer to the screenshot below;

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Nope, sorry.
This is included in the self-contained swf.

putting several mp3s isn't working for me :'(

I have created a folder & a sub-folder in my joomla folder....

...so i put the code as instructed:
{play}music/mj/musicname.mp3*music/mj/othermusicname.mp3{/play}

but this doesn't appear nothing, not playing nothing as well.

When I put:
{play}music/mj/musicname.mp3{/play}

it appears and plays ok

:'( dunno

[RE-EDITED]:
- Workin' fine now, I've uninstalled the plugin and re-installed again 8)

Hi infograf768, thanks for the response.

I meant to ask was if JosDewplayer is on page A, then I move to page B.
Btw, I've tried installing on local, it was great. very neat.
But I also need the audio too keep playing without restarting when I move to another page.

That is impossible without using a fixed frame where the player would go on playing while the site would be loaded in the other frame.

Is there an extension to do this?

When I add a second song to my list the player increases in size on the screen. Is there any reason for this? How can I fix it?

The multiplayer is longer because it displays 2 arrows on the right side to toggle from the mp3 on the list.

It is easy to add a fixed frame but it is not advised as your SEO would go berserk.
