Hello,

I have written a book for beginners to learn Joomla! 1.5 step by step visually.

http://www.lagoona.in/learn_joomla_fast.html

Hope it is useful.

Hi Saurabh. I did a quick run-through on the PDF and it looks really helpful. The format and graphics are excellent. What program did you use to write the book? Did you do the design yourself?

Also, I think we should put a link from the Absolute Beginners page to this book. Chris, do you agree?

Finally, have you thought about joining the Joomla! Documentation working group?

Thanks. Mark

Hello Mark,
Thanks for the compliments. The book was wirtten using Microsoft Word 2007. It lets you make all those graphics easily.

Please put up a link to this page on the Absolute Beginners Page as you mentioned. The main reason I worte this is because I took a lot of time to learn Joomla as a beginner, and I think it can be learnt much faster using a book like this.

Yes, I would like to join the documentation working group. Where to start ?

Hi Saurabh,

That's really impressive and I'd certainly like to link to it from the Beginners page. However, we need to be careful to avoid self-promotion and spamming and so there are a couple of small changes that would be needed before we can make that happen.
1. Remove the reference to http://www.rockettheme.com. The download link for the 'Novus' template is fine as it is GPL.
2. Remove references to freezoka.com. If you can reword it so it works for any cPanel host that would be great.
3. Rather than linking to your website we would need to host the document on our infrastructure (I can arrange that).

Sorry to have to impose such restrictions but we have to be careful, especially on a page that gets over 100,000 page views each month.

You clearly have the skills we are looking for on the Doc Working Group. The focus of our efforts is the wiki at http://docs.joomla.org and one area you might like to look at is the Administrator's Manual. We have the beginnings of an outline for it here: http://docs.joomla.org/Administrators but there is a huge amount of work still to be done.

Regards,
Chris.

Hello chris,
Thank you for your interest. I have modified the book as you said, and I can email it to you now. But the Joomla Forum email form does not allow attachments. So please let me know your email address.

Regards,
Saurabh

Nice read! Found a spelling error i.e. Acoount instead of Account on page #5.

Already have pointed a friend to the PDF file for more info about Joomla!

An absolutely FANTASTIC BOOK!

I have been searching for a SUPER SIMPLE manual I can give to my clients on HOW to manage the content in Joomla and THIS BOOK IS THE ONE!!!

EVERY book, online tutorial and other resource I have found, bought, located or used has been WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too technical for my clients.

Saurabh has hit a HOME RUN with this very simple, very easy and VERY useful book.

THANK YOU!!!!! ;D

Hi Saurabh, I just downloaded your free pdf ebook from http://www.lagoona.in/learn_joomla_fast.html

Very good book for newbie like me.

A picture speaks more than 1000 words.

I use light and USB portable Uniform Server Apache package and would try installing Joomla on it.
