Allow User Registration Not Working
I can't get the usual New User Registration option to work. I have set Allow New User Registration to YES in the Global Configuration. I have a Member Login module activated and it works fine if you are already registered.
I am running Joomla 1.5.10 at www.completethejourney.org.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Allow User Registration Not Working
Hi rmeilech,
First of all, why J1.5.10? You are in danger of being hacked. You should upgrade to 1.5.14 ASAP
Now, is that the core Joomla login module? If so, did you change the module's code in some way?
Also, does your template have an output override for the login module? (Check the folder /templates/[your-template]/html/. If there is a /mod_login/ sub-folder and a default.php inside it, the answer is yes). In that case, rename the /templates/[your-template]/html/mod_login/default.php file to default.php.old and see if you get the expected results.
Let us know of your findings.

Re: Allow User Registration Not Working
Wow. Talk about a fast response.
I am upgrading today to .14--just got overwhelmed with everything else. Thanks for the reminder.
Yes, it was the core Joomla login module. And I didn't change any code--wouldn't know where to start.
But I id check for an output override as you suggested. And it was there. Renamed it as you suggested and it works great now.
Am gong to write the joomlapraise guys and ask why it is there.
Thanks again for the incredibly fast response.

Re: Allow User Registration Not Working
Well, almost. I don't know if this was a problem before I did the above. But when I go into the backend and try to delete the test users I just created, I get the following errors:
Warning: Missing argument 2 for plgUserDeleteUser::onBeforeDeleteUser() in /home/completo/public_html/plugins/user/deleteuser.php on line 26
Warning: Missing argument 3 for plgUserDeleteUser::onBeforeDeleteUser() in /home/completo/public_html/plugins/user/deleteuser.php on line 26

Any clues?

Re: Allow User Registration Not Working
This is a totally different issue.
The error messages reference a file that doesn't even exist in Joomla (/home/completo/public_html/plugins/user/deleteuser.php).
Please, zip that file and attach it here so I can take a look at it. I'm seriously concerned that you might already have been hacked.

Re: Allow User Registration Not Working
There's another thing you can try to correct this.
- Go to Extensions --> Install/Uninstall
- Select the Plugins tab
- Locate and uninstall the Delete User plug-in
Then try to delete the test user again.
Hope this helps,

Re: Allow User Registration Not Working
I'mm pretty sure its a jomsocial file. I actually uninstalled jomsocial, but this may be a left over. I attached it anyway.
On the other matter, my hosting service has 1.5.13 upgrade patch on Fantastico. Seems like a good idea to go ahead with that upgrade and then when Netenberg adds 1.5.14 to Fantastico, ad that. You agree.
Thanks for your continued help.

Re: Allow User Registration Not Working
I found it. There was a Delete User plugin from JomSocial. I uninstalled it and I was able to delete users without problem.
It wasn't a hack.
I am going to upgrade to 1.5.13 as soon as possible. And then .14 when NEtenberg provides it.
Thanks again for all your help.

Re: Allow User Registration Not Working
I am having a similar issue. But I have no override module. It allows users to login, but will not allow new ones to be created? I am using 1.5.14 Any ideas?
Same as this:
I can't get the usual New User Registration option to work. I have set Allow New User Registration to YES in the Global Configuration. I have a Member Login module activated and it works fine if you are already registered.
the site is http://www.sheetstalks.com

I've just successfully created and activated a test user in your site (test123) using FF3.0.13 (please, delete it).
Are you using a different browser? Or did you fix the problem?
PS: I noticed one odd behavior: when I log out, the who's online module still shows me as logged in.

Re: Allow User Registration Not Working
I did see that you created yours. I am using Safari 4 and firefox. I tried it last night using Internet Explorer 8 and still had the issue. I will be looking at it more later today. I will get back with you. Thanks for looking into it. The odd thing is all of my other joomla sites work fine with Safari 4 and Firefox 3.5, usually my truble browser is IE 8.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

I tried the fix and it didn't work. Users I create a registration for only get the login page, and yet the backend shows them as logged in. I'm in legacy mode, with site set as offline. Any ideas please?

First off, this seems to be a completely different issue than the topic of this thread. You should start a new one. This thread is about not being able to get new users registration in front end, not about users not being able to login.
Second, we'll need more info about your set-up (please, use the forum post assistant - link in the orange "Forum Rules" box on top of the thread), the steps taken up to where the error shows, what error messages are shown (if any), and, if possible, a link to your site so we can see the problem.
And last, but not least, please, read my signature regarding unasked support PM

Thanks, I have done what was suggested, and would be very grateful for any help. The post ('user login failure') is at http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=431&t=459159. Hope this isn't infringing some other forum etiquette I'm not aware of.

Re: Allow User Registration Not Working
I have this issue too. I cannot get registration to work.
I have tried:
- removing/renaming template overide, so as to use standard Joomla registration
- installing a different registration module
I even moved email hosting to the same server as the website hosting.
I have been trying top resolve this for months with no luck!
Hekp appreciated
