sites and review email submitted: 1 month

Post by leolam » Fri Jul 24, 2009 6:55 am

Hello,
I have submitted 27th of June 2 listings. I have received a confirmation email pending approval etc.

Listings are for gws-desk.com (consultants) and gws-host.com (hosting)

On 7/11/2009 I have send for both listings a checklist with all required information to [email protected] to review the sites

I have had no reply and my listings are still pending, no feed-back on review email, nothing.

We are now: a) one month from adding my listing and 2 1/2 weeks from sending the emails...

Can somebody explain why nobody replies or provides feed-back ???

Yes I have since as I mentioned I have send the information as required per checklist. So Checklist submitted, no breach of Trademarks or logo (conditional use), Terms are clear and we fulfill those terms. No reply on the submitted checklist(s).

Hi Leo,

I'm sorry no one has gotten to your listing yet. We are doing our best to get to the all the submissions as soon as possible. Please be patient with us as we volunteer our time to bring the community a resource that will help everyone to find the best Joomla! services. :)

I am doing that too already for 5 years (!) and you guys simply ignore my entries which is a shame. I am now getting upset and reacting accordingly.

It is ashame that it is now almost 1 1/2 month ago without any reaction..

Please explain why the Resources Team refuse to review our sites/submissions nor reply at all

Leo L.

I can't explain that the Resources Team is refusing to review your site/submissions because that isn't what is happening. We aren't refusing to review anyone's submission.

We are trying to do our best, and I am sorry that isn't good enough for you Leo. We all have lives, families, and work that we have to do on top of all that everyone on the Resources Team does for the Joomla Project. You can throw your conspiracy theories around all you like but it doesn't make them true, it just makes you look like you want to be an insulting bully and/or a child throwing a tantrum. Your words and actions and how you are conducting yourself in this forum thread with the personal attacks on people is what is disgusting, and uncalled for. No one is forcing you to list in the JRD, and being listed in the JRD is a privilege and not a right.

I was held up for some time too. I know how frustrating it is, you just have to be patient. On a quick peek I noticed this- This was what was holding me up-
Joomla team has announced that development of and support for Joomla 1.0 will be discontinued from July 2009 and that J1.0-extensions have been removed from the Jed. Security upgrades will be supported until this date. But if you're a user who hasn't yet upgraded to Joomla 1.5, you should do so in order to start reaping the benefits the latest version has to offer. At present many new exciting extensions are being released only in Joomla 1.5.x - native mode. Want to migrate your site to Joomla! 1.5?
Notice that Joomla, does not have ! or TM after it. I had to go through my entire site and add ! and TM to everything that said Joomla. I also had to post this disclaimer on my site-

"The Joomla!® name is used under a limited license from Open Source Matters in the United States and other countries. Polar Web Design is not affiliated with or endorsed by Open Source Matters or the Joomla! Project."

That might work..

@miserabletrash,
You didn't have to add the ! and the TM after every instance of the word Joomla, just the first main mention of it on the page. And yes the disclaimer is important if people are using the name or the logo on their sites.

@everyone,
Registering for conditional logo usage is the fastest way to get that done, as you don't have to wait for an approval from OSM to use the logo, just register, download, add the conditional logo where you want, linking properly to J.org add the disclaimer and you're good to go.

The place to get information and to register for conditional logo use is right here: http://www.opensourcematters.org/index.php?Itemid=169

I reviewed my post and confirm your assessment. . I have removed the personal directives. I do apologize for venting my frustration as I did.
No one is forcing you to list in the JRD, and being listed in the JRD is a privilege and not a right.
I am fully aware of that. It is our choice to be listed since we think it is a very good initiative and have supported the idea the moment Andrew posted his vision some month's ago.

My first entries were posted the Sunday the Resources directory was announced. One week later the name Joomadesk/Joomastudio and Joomahost which we used for 5 years was suddenly scrutinized so we changed our corporate identity within one week which was a good thing anyhow since we stopped servicing Mambo clients though our name did initially was formed from total other sources and had nothing to do with neither Joomla nor Mambo but fitted well. After the re-branding we submitted entries for our new entities immediately and that is now 1 1/2 month ago (including the checklist etc) without any feed-back besides a remark here on the forum one week ago. That is what frustrates me and made me (incorrectly) publicly boil over.

Once again my sincere apologies.

let me understand this right and please educate me: if i look at your's and Wendy's (nice) site I do not see the disclaimer though you use Joomla in wordings very clearly....so whats the difference that your site no need to have a disclaimer on your site: "Just being curious "without offense?

The policy is not clear fairly stated since looking at the current entries 95% of the "consultants" entries utilizes Joomla in their frontpage as you do, utilizes logo's but no disclaimer is being posted...So tell me please what do I misunderstand? You yourself post here that the disclaimer is important? May I ask for some guidance here?

Hey Leo, thanks for pointing that out to me. When I was playing around with footers I think I published the wrong one. I will correct it right now. I don't understand what you mean when you state we have the Joomla logo on our site, because as far as I know it is not ANYWHERE on our site, whereas you have used the Joomla Logo contrary to the actual checklist that you filled out, and make it look like people are going to get a download link to download the upgrade for Joomla, but instead are directed to your Upgrading Service page. You also combine the Limited use Logo with other images which is also a no-no according to the brand manual. (at least the last time I looked. We sent you an email regarding the issue with your use of the Limited Use Logo, and the fact that we could not find any registration from you to use the Limited use Logo, nor a conditional use logo request, and that you had not followed the instructions on the checklist properly, yet again.)

Not sure what you expect us to do, when you do not follow the clear instructions, and continue to waste our time. You have free choice to submit to the JRD, provided you follow the guidelines, and rules that are set out. You seem to not want to. That is your choice. It is our choice not to list you if you don't want to follow the guidelines, or until you make the corrections that are necessary. If you see violations to policy, then please report those listings, through the reporting system on the JRD. We will follow up and make sure an email is sent out with requests to correct the problem.

Thanks Leo.

Edit: I fixed my site Leo.

Please "READ". I never mentioned you used Joomla logo. I mentioned name (!) to which your referred to in an earlier post.
whereas you have used the Joomla Logo contrary to the actual checklist that you filled out, and make it look like people are going to get a download link to download the upgrade for Joomla, but instead are directed to your Upgrading Service page
That is an interpretation and I simply do not agree with that assessment but based on Chad's email we have corrected that as per request and/or suggestion by Elin as stated in Chad's email.
You also combine the Limited use Logo with other images which is also a no-no according to the brand manual.
Our site does not contain a single Joomla logo nor Joomla-image at any of the links any longer as mentioned in my email reaction to Chad who I requested to forward my email to the Team which includes you I assume.
Not sure what you expect us to do, when you do not follow the clear instructions, and continue to waste our time.
Your current tone of communication has no merit. I stated that I asked guidance. At least Chad was so kind to point one issue out after his review which was immediately addressed and corrected
We will follow up and make sure an email is sent out with requests to correct the problem.
Better get updated since that was done by Chad and responded to accordingly by me with a copy to Elin.
provided you follow the guidelines, and rules that are set out. You seem to not want to.
Rude, nonsense and a wrong perception again as you can see above and per email-response to Chad. Facts are Jenny that we reacted immediately to each issue brought to our attention:
* After 5 years of using the previous name this was suddenly not longer possible. We followed up and re-branded so we comply to the guidelines....(no more 'Joom' in our name)
* Chad forwarded concerns day before yesterday he and Elin had related to the Upgrade announcement you refer to which was addressed within minutes so we changed and comply to the guidelines
* All images had been already removed prior to Chad's email after consulting the "conditional use guidelines" to avoid a large disclaimer as required to which we do not object but do not want on our site. So we followed up by removing any "conditional" logo or mixtures
Its shows our commitment to comply to the guidelines so your remark is therefor beyond facts and simply meant to insult it seems
If you see violations to policy, then please report those listings, through the reporting system on the JRD.
I noted this and asked for guidance since it seems not consistent. That's why expressed my question. I have not a single desire to play guardian angel on your JRD. That's your task not mine. I personally do not care the least!

Thanks Jenny for your 'kindness'.

Cheers

Leo
