Description does not show in the Google search

Hi, i have built a website and send to the google webmaster but in the google search, it can search the website but the description does not show. I have added the description meta tag in the first page but still no sucess.

you can search this keywords in google "ascot chang", the first one is the result

Can anyone know how to solve this problem? many thanks!

You need to enter the site description in metadata under global configuration

What do you mean "under global configuration" ??

I have added the description meta tag in the <head></head> already. do i miss anything ?

If you login as admin to the control panel under site on the top menu you will see global configuration, choose it from the menu. There is a box for metadata - this is where your site description and key words for the site are entered. If you do not have access to global configuration contact the developer who built your site and have them add the metadata.

I have similar problem.,.. i used joompack to copy the website.. now the description from the old webseite is still showing in google.. although i changed it in global config.. does anyone know why?

I have created a google account, and submitted my website url
I have downloaded the XML extension for Joomla and created a sitemap and submitted the sitemap url to Google.

I will let you know if that works for me!

Google need time for reindex / recrawl your site.
Please check back again in few day / week

Well it worked for me. The XML was pretty easy to use. Submitted sitemap. Took about a week after that. I did post a question on the Google webmasters forum. ( thought that might help speed up the googlebot thing too). About a week later it is now showing.
