Virtuemart Chokes on Canada - Alternative?

Hi...
I've spent a long time configuring Virtuemart to work with Canadian taxes and Shipping. Unfortunately I cannot get the e-comm package to comply.

Has anyone got Virtuemart to work with a Canadian Solution? - Challenge is - Canada has two taxes

Does anyone have a good alternative?

I'd like this to work with Canada as well.  I'd swear on their forums there was a "Solution".  Did you find that post ?  Search for "Canadian" in their forums.

There's even more than 2 taxes in Canada. There are three taxes at least in Quebec, and different rates depending on the product too. Wonder if anyone could think of defining tax info differently, with names and use rather than just Country...

VirtueMart Flex Tax should work: http://www.virtuemartflextax.com.

It handles taxes by Country, State, and City, displays Canadian GST and PST on checkout, plus allows taxing of shipping same as product.

Handles a lot of complex US taxes correctly also.

what about the new HST in Canada ?

It doesn't do that yet, but we are working on that, plus zip code based taxation.

When it does, the setup for HST will be VERY simple, with only the difference of a single checkbox.

It is marked down right now, will be probably until those changes are made and tested.

We currently offer free upgrades, which is our preferred way of selling software.

I needed this as well. I had a developer modify virtuemart to allow the backend user to add tax rates for each product ID. It's time consuming but allows you to add different tax rates depending on province and product.
