Multiple installations on one server

Post by bgillies » Wed May 05, 2010 5:14 pm

I am sure I saw this topic somewhere before but I cannot find it.

I have a site up and running witht eh URL MYDOMAIN.COM/JOOMLA I would like to have another site on the same server at MYDOMAIN.COM/JOOMLA2 How do I go about installing Joomla in the second directory?

I am using the Web Platform on IIS7. This is currently on a Vista machine but will be moved to a host eventually.

Just create a new folder called joomla2 and install joomla in there. You need to install joomla for every site

Ok. so i installed an new joomla installation on the server in its own directory (Test) Except when I access MYDOMAIN.COM/JOOMLA1 I end up with the MYDOMAIN.COM/TEST page displayed. Also when I access MYDOMAIN.COM I get the Test page where historially I got a 404 error which, at this point is what I want. The root MTDOMAIN.COM should be empty. Whe I stop the server for the test site in IIS MANAGER everything goes back to normal with the original site.

So when both sites are started It does not matter what I enter I get the test page.

What am i missing?

Sorry I dont have a clue about iis

If you install joomla in a directory /test1 and again in /test2 then both should load different sites

Could this possibly be a db issue? Maybe the second one, since it's running on the same domain, needs a different table prefix? Instead of jos_ make a different prefix. Not sure if it's the problem or not, but it's an idea.

Are you using the same database for your two sites ? I'm new to Joomla, but if your answer is yes, there may be paths in the database pointing to the first installation.
