Hello!
I notice many commercial developer registering the products as groups.
I have no problem I guest with this .
However here the potential problem.
What happen if a developer is not listed on jed due to GPL violation
At this time it seem as the wild wild west style
Just a though
Pierre

Re: Monitoring ?
I do have a problem with this company landgrab
1. The site is about people. We already have JED, JRD for non-people stuff
2. The site has a clear terms and conditions banning this
3. there are already non-gpl developers breaching the rules
It's time to stop, work out what the site is for, reset the groups and concentrate on making this site the number one social community for users of joomla

Re: Monitoring ?
The site is 'people.joomla.org' (emphasis on people), I think that is the focus but unfortunately the rush after the doors have opened seemed to be about products or companies. Let's use it wisely folks!
I'm glad to see the Groups are getting a second look, and I hope that videos/photos do too. Problem is some of the videos are in another language, hard to know if they are ads.
Community, lets not make this a moderating nightmare, play nicely

Re: Monitoring ?
IF together we can get it right now then I'm confident it will stay that way.
I think/hope it was just a little bit of over excitement on some peoples part and a little bit of well they did it so I will too.

Re: Monitoring ?
My humble opinion is:
1. I don't know if I misunderstood but I believe we should continue to have extension specific groups, but not company specific groups.
2. Besides if they for some reason are banned from any of the other sites, then no reason for being allowed on this one. Thus non-gpls shouldn't be able to initiate groups.
