I filled in the application for Irish Joomla Users group some time ago.

I would like to organise a meeting with our counterparts up north.

Hi There,

I'm Paul Marshall I'm the co-ordinator for the new Northern Ireland JUG 'JoomlaNI'. Thanks to Rob (Techbot) for steering me in the direction of this thread.

Joomla NI has recently been awarded JUG status and we are starting now to build the user base, I'm hoping to have our first meeting early in 2010, probably in Co Down initially because we have facilities available but I'd like to circulate meetings around major towns in the North.

It would be great if Rob's JoomlaIreland JUG could also be approved, I look forward to meeting with Joomla Users at every opportunity - as far as I can tell there aren't many over here yet or maybe I just don't get out enough :).

If any users are in Northern Ireland we'd appreciate your support at http://www.joomlani.com and I hope that we can provide you with a useful local resource and the chance to meet with, learn from and share with other Joomla enthusiasts on the wee wet green place.

I'm happy to support Rob's work on http://www.Joomlaireland.org and I look forward to collaborations in the future.

Cheers

P

I have organised a two informal meetings, over the coming 2 months. One in Galway and one in Dublin. But I'd really like to get this official. We are lagging behind.

Hi Techbot,

We are currently in the proces of "rebooting" the JUG team.

There are a backlog of requests/approvals needing a spring cleanup, and in general we are taking a good look at how to minimize the proces from when new volunters show interest in starting up a new JUG, their entusiastic submission of request, to the approval as recognised JUG.

We are aware some improvements are needed, and some new energy needs to be added our handling of the approval proces.
Good thing is that the needed volunters already has offered their help, and we expect handling tasks and communication with our valuable JUGs, will change to the positive during May 2010.

Sorry, that your request hasnt found a solution yet. Hope you have a little more patience.
*Your concern and question noted. Will contact you directly in case your request shouldnt have been logged in the system. Would think it is just pending, without knowing the exact reason.

Thanks for helping spread the good word about joomla! in your area. Makes a difference :)

Is it possible that somebody from the Jug committee contact me. I started this process well over 6 months ago.

We have had one meeting in Galway, we did not use any trademarks (advertising the event) in order to not jeopardise our chances of being recognised by the jug committee. I would like to organise our planned Dublin meet, but this means advertising the event. (we intend to alternate between Dublin and Galway)

I need to know if I can continue, while waiting for a confirmation.

I would also like to become a J!volunteer (maybe on the jug committee) . I have made a few modules and components built at this stage, and this week I was actually employed as a full time joomla specialist, which affords me a small bit of finance to continues this effort.

As stated before there is a northern Ireland group that is as anxiously waiting our approval as we are.

you can see our effort at http://www.joomlaireland.org

As we now have approved Joomla! User Group Dublin as registered JUG, I will mark this thread as solved.
