Hey everyone

I am the CEO of ZTEKnologies, and about 7 months ago our firm started to migrate to joomla, its been quite a ride since. I have learned so many fascinating things, and have so much to learn yet still

I am searching the web for a group of people who would like to learn, or share in a Joomla Group in the baltimore county area, to be honest i dont know what else to say.

I have trained a few people in the ways of the joomla master (lol) but our design company (Zephyr) does most of this. So this group would be a great way for everyone to collaborate and share.

I guess thats it, if interested PM or respond.

To the mods, if its in the wrong place, chuck or move it!

thanks again

Jason Harris

Let me know if you want some tips! We've got quite a motivated crew, and up to 89 members...quite a ride, yes. We're lovin' it so far!

Hi,

I am in the Baltimore area near Towson. If at some point you do get enough interest to form a group, please le me know. I am building my first Joomla site now, and I have so many questions. I keep searching for answers with not much success. I've posted a few times here as well. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I am a web designer and would (NEED) to learn Joomla. I am definitely interested in joining/starting a user group. I live in Baltimore County.

What's the next step?

Hi this sounds exciting that there are some in the Baltimore area wanting to form a Joomla! User Group.

A good place to start is by reading the FAQ on starting a JUG.

I am in York County PA - Just North of Baltimore and I know of at least 2 (including me) that would be interested. I have been reading the information on several other JUGs and the closest to us is in NYC...

I'm in Glen Burnie about 15 minutes south of Baltimore. I'd be interested in joining or volunteering for a Joomla! Maryland group. You can contact me through PM or my forum profile.

I'd be interested in being a member and could provide the hosting for a Baltimore group site, but I'm not the type of person to "run" things so to speak. I just don't have that type of social skill. LOL!

Count me in. Can help set up and/or moderate as needed. I'm a longtime web designer/developer, using Joomla (off/on) for about two years. Also taught basic Joomla a part of a Web Content Management class at Loyola College in both spring 2008 and spring 2009.

I would like to join a JUG in Baltimore. How do I contact other people that are interested? I tried using this forum back in March 2009, but never heard from anyone else. I am serious.

Baltimore is a large area. It might be worth considering having multiple JUGs there. But consider the fact that we've got one member from Baltimore in our Northern Virginia JUG and you'll realize there's definitely a desire there. We've even got 10 or so members from DC. There's definitely a large enough interest represented in this thread alone!

Just do it! You will be glad you did.

I'm interested in joining a Baltimore Jug. I guess someone just needs to take the leadership initiative to start it.

I might be interested. I'm a student at Towson University and a web designer of 8 years. I've migrated all of my customers sites to Joomla. I now design almost exclusively in Joomla now.

I'm thinking that the meeting spot should be of equal distance for those who live in the Annapolis/PG County Area and those who live in the Baltimore area.
Somewhere in Glen Burnie would probably work well for those from Baltimore and those from Prince George's & Anne Arundel County.

Being someone from Annapolis... I get real ticked off at the thought of driving to a regularly scheduled meeting in Baltimore just because Baltimore is the bigger city.

I'll go look at the FAQs and take some time to think about this

The Baltimore JUG was started during the Christmas / New Years holidays and attempts were made to have a meeting. But things feel through because of everones hectic holiday plans. After that no other attempts have been made for a meeting.

We do have a Google Groups started and you can join it at the following:

http://groups.google.com/group/baltojug?hl=en

I didn't find a website for Baltimore JUG, checked out the Google user group for this - nothing's going on. Anyone still interested in this?

I've registered http://joomlabaltimore.org for this. I've also tried registering the Baltimore User's Group through the Joomla's JUG registration system, but was getting an error. My guess is that someone had already registered for Baltimore before but I don't see any links to the Baltimore JUG here http://community.joomla.org/user-groups.html Since I was getting an error for Baltimore, I registered it for Ellicott City thinking this would be a good location to meet anyway for people from Annapolis (South) and Baltimore (North).

I haven't heard anything back from Joomla! after my registration last week...

Thanks for the confirmation. What's the next step? Can you add a link to it from the http://community.joomla.org/user-groups.html page so that Baltimore users can find it? No one has joined the group since I published the site. I think that link from the main Joomla! User Groups page is what's missing.

thanks

As mandville stated, there are 4 applications for user groups in the Baltimore area:
  • Baltimore
  • Baltimore, MD
  • Ellicott City
  • Joomla User Group Baltimore MD
Two were rejected due to insufficient information in their registration. This brings it down to Ellicott City (http://joomlabaltimore.org) and Joomla User Group Baltimore MD (http://joomlabalt.ning.com/) which are under review.

If these 2 are under review, then why is the one associated with the http://joomlabalt.ning.com/ site listed as the official group for the Baltimore area (on the Joomla! community pages)?
