I Have successfully intergrated the two systems, joomla and osdate. you can see it in action at http://www.adate.co.za.
If you are still interested, I can supply you the system as a whole. Price to be discussed.

I would be interested in this intergration also.  I run Joomla as my main site and have just started working with OsDate and I think the two of them would work well together if I could get them to share data.

If anyone is working on this, please let me know.  Thanks!

Jamie

Currently in early Alpha... but I'm looking for some people to get behind me and push me to bring this to a full componenet. Looking for people to download and test for me. Recoding all of osDates tables into Joomla tables in DB, and writing some SQL i think will work with it. Plan to make this GPL. Currently only profile creation and viewing is enabled.

I didn't go with an integration, started from scratch. Check it out at http://demo.webdesignhero.com. It's available for sale now.

Integration of dating script and joomla seems like a good idea. Looking forward for a free version to play with. :)

Dear All,

I am planning to set up a website based on the Osdate Dating Script. I have some really bad experiences with dating software and I am struggling to collect the information I need on the Osdate Software. I hope somebody can help me on this. My questions are:
· Does anybody know a decent reliable server which supports Osdate and which you can reach 24/7, video chat and audio chat included? The servers I have found myself up till now offer reasonable prices for basic services, but when I want the video chat and audio chat module included, the prices raise rapidly.
· Are the video chat and audio chat modules included in the latest version of Osdate ( 2.5.4 if I am correct )
· Who has experience with Osdate and can tell me if the security of the software is OK in reference to virusses and hackers. I have recently bought the Able Dating Script from ABK Soft ( unfortunately ) and I had to shut down the site because it was already hacked twice and spam was being send from our site.
Can anybody please give me an answer on the above as I am really struggling to get this information, your help is highly appreciated!

Thanks and looking forward to seeing your replies.

Regards,

Willem Spooren

The problem I've seen with osdate is that you must register by providing plenty of information, that are not required by joomla.

The reason why audio-video chat prices are high is generally because
1) it takes very good (expensive) Flash developers to develop them.
2) video chat uses a lot of bandwidth on the server thus the hight prices of the video chat hosting solutions.

This could change soon tough as Adobe is working on a peer 2 peer video chat olution/technology that will eliminate the bandwidth cost for the video chat hosting providers!

I have been using osdate for a couple years and joomla for a week osdate is great the one bad thing about it is they release updates before they should be really last update really messed things up for a minute. I would suggest staying with the version available from the scripts page and not the version available in the forum. Also tufat.com has a very nice flashchat program that is free now to with built a video module add in the to work very well together. osdate has built in bridges already so users of the dating site are automatically linked to the chat rooms and a forum. I could see a bridge being built for joomla really easy just modify one of the already bridges built into osdate already and change the path of the registration link on joomla to osdates so all the other fields are all ready there to be filled out. Just a thought for a quick solution. All you experienced professional coders probably have better solutions but for the novice hobbyist like me that can modify but not write from scratch this is my only solution.

Wish I would of found joomla a year ago so I wouldn't be rebuilding everything now, and just expanding.

If anyone has came up with a open source solution recently please post.

One thing I have noticed about the joomla forum (here comes a big can of worms) all the commercial postings this is an open source forum and so is joomla and osdate. People make money with the open source projects they donate to it. Every time a make a buck I donate 10% for anything I make to the open source projects I use. Ban all commercial from open source.

PS. I don't have anything against commercial software I use it on one of my sites just not on open source forums and sites.

Some of the commercial projects listed here also come with free versions for limited use.

In example all components we provide for video conferencing, p2p private 2 way video chat, video presentations and live consultations, live streaming can be downloaded and installed prior to purchase. Some limitations apply for the flash applications compared to licensed mode (limited time, users) but all php scripts come with source under gpl and can be changed / integrated as needed. Many of the developers and startup sites use the free versions.

We plan to release a support component that will also include a ticket system under gpl.
Joomla components for Video Conference, Web Video Recorder, P2P Webcam Chat, Video Presentations and Live Streaming: http://www.videowhisper.com + compatible hosting for live streaming and related features.
