Now typing in any Indian language has become so easy! Yes You can type in Editable fields in your favorite Indian language.

I have created admin modules which converts Roman characters to their phonetic equivalent in 9 Indian languages. (of course Unicode)

There are 2 modules. Each module uses different libraries/API.
1). Indic Writer based on Pramukh Library
2). Indic Writer based on Google Transliteration API

Both plugins produce same result. You can use any of them. But both modules have their own limitations..

- Pramukh library does not work with editor while Design Mode is turned on(but works if you toggle it to HTML mode)
- Google API only works if you are connected to internet.

You can download modules from here - http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... tent/10943

Installation Guide
1. Download the Pack
2. Install the Extension
3. Go to Extension > Module Manager
4. Click on Administrator
5. Click on 'Indic Writer'
6. Enable the Plugin
7. Select 'status' Position
8. Click on Save
9. Select desired language from the top of Joomla

Any types of feedbacks are most welcomed

Hello,

I have used this for joomla 1.5 and it has been working great.

Would like to use this for 1.6 as well. Can you please inform the steps for doing so.

I have installed it using the extension - manager and now the admin module can be seen in the list of the modules. But I dont know how to get it reflected in the article panel, where I can use it to write new articles or edit the existing ones.

Look forward to your guidance.

Thanks again for such a lovely extension.

Regards.

You could try the Google IME (http://www.google.com/ime/transliteration/) it would be very helpful.

This Windows based tool/plugin would work in any application or place wherever you would like to type in different non-English languages (e.g., Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi). If you install this tool it would come handy not only in Joomla! but also in other applications such as e-mail, Word, Excel, and so forth.

Hi;

Will this work for customized TTF fonts. i.e. i wanted to use sheelipi / gujkey fonts.

I want to write content in my local computer that uses shreelipi/gujkey fonts and want to copy and paste them into my joomla website.

If this fonts are not available in client's machine the text is not viewable. If i install the phone then i can read what i have written.

You can see sample at:
http://somnathhelpline.com/index.php/ex ... uctus.html

Line2 is actually written in ShreeLipi fonts and is not visible:
pp S>e kp¡d_p\ pp pp S>e S>gpfpd pp

Hi Rajil,

You have to us unicode fonts. All modern operating systems support unicode fonts.

So what you can do is go to the url I mentioned in my signature and download Indic Writer plugin. Or you can use unicode editor like this http://service.vishalon.net/[spam].aspx. Type there, copy all content and paste in your Joomla editor.

Hopefully this should work.
