Ok,

I'm wondering if I'm barking up the wrong tree here, asking again about Midlands JUG - but if you don't ask you don't get!

So, I propose an idea. We set up a meeting, in, say, Birmingham near New Street in a pub somewhere and see what happens. Lets say... the last Tuesday of the month? That would be the 27th.

If this happens, then we can work out the best way to move from there. If you're interested please leave feedback, esp. if you have an idea of a good place to meet up!

And if it doesn't work... we'll we can say we tried.

To help coordinate meetings, consider setting up a J!people group at http://people.joomla.org/groups.html?categoryid=4 or a group at meetup.com. You might have a better chance of finding interested people to join.

Hi All,

I think due to lack of feedback we'll call off tonights meeting and move it to next month - I'll do as advised and chat on peopel.joomla and various group sites and see if we can get more people to confirm that they're willing to meet up.

A bit sad but then you can't have everything your own way

Hi all,

Just moved to Stamford from the States and was looking for a JUG. I was wondering if there is any meeting day proposed for next month? I'd love to find a group a little closer than Birmingham, but it doesn't seem that there's one yet.

Hi All!

Ok, so we'll try again with this!

Tuesday 7th sound good for all?

We're still looking for recommendations for a pub/venue - someone's recommended the Burlington Hotel but I can see that being costly on the beers! Another option is The Square Peg - a Weatherspoons just off Corporation street (http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/home/pubs/the-square-peg)

Hi Again,

I've also just created a group on people.joomla..

http://people.joomla.org/groups/created ... roupid=670

I can't say that I'm the biggest fan of the people.joomla site, but I'll try to keep an eye on it (if anyone knows how I can set up meaningful email notifications for it I'll be happy to take the advice!)

Hello everyone.

I think that if you count me in as well we must have enough folks now for a pretty good starter group! I'm very very interested in coming along to any meeting/s that are planned so please keep me posted.

By the way how do I get updates about what is happening aside from visiting this forum?

I'm based in Leicester so only a fairly short train ride into Birmingham. If there is a meeting on Tuesday the 7th of September what time is the meetup and has a venue been agreed? Cheers!

Todd

Hi All,

Chris - Excellent!

Todd - I'm not 100% sure, but I think the plan is the following -

Meet up at The Square Peg - a Weatherspoons just off Corporation street (http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/home/pubs/the-square-peg) where we should be able to get some tables together and a couple of drinks at least.

Let's say... 7pm onwards... this gives people time to get in after work.

Best way of communications is prob. this forum at the moment, however if you send me an email at chris {at} imnotplayinganymore {dot} com then I'll pass on my mobile number in-case there are any real problems.

I've also set up a meetup.com page for this so with luck it will attract more people: http://www.meetup.com/West-Midlands-JUG-Startup/

If you just want to walk in, you can't miss me as I stand 6'5" tall, and it's fair to say I'm a big guy! I've not been to this pub before so I don't know whereabouts I'll be, so grab my mobile number from me if it'll help.

Cheers!

There is now a Milton Keynes JUG: http://jugmiltonkeynes.org/

During my old FoxPro days I travelled to Birmingham FoxPro groups in so I see some value in sharing between local JUG groups. Group sizes appear to work well at about 25-35 people.

Hope that this new Milton Keynes JUG helps people in East Mildlands area.

Regards

Anton
