If you want to incorporate the slide-show in that article, choose extensions that are plugins.

Review extensions at

Can use this plugin to display slideshows in contents.

thanks for that - I have used bretteleben - its a great plugin! BUT this time im looking for something different...
Could it be my eyes that are deceiving me, or arent there plugins that you can place in an article???

Can someone tell me are the plug-ins MADE to go in articles, somehow I found it very frustrating going through each plugin to find one that could be nested in my ARTICLE - thanks

Extensions that are Plug-ins are made to go in the articles. For each of the plugin the syntax may be different. You have to refer the documentation of the extension to check the syntax and the usage of the extension. Mostly the syntax would be {keyword}...{/}

Extensions that are Modules are designed to show in the predefined module positions. If needed, modules could be embedded within articles by the LoadPostion command. Refer the document http://docs.joomla.org/How_do_you_put_a ... article%3F for this. You could also use extensions such as Modules Anywhere (http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... clude/6402).

so what are you actually looking for. You said not-so-flashy. so brettleben is not-so-flashy! it simply rotates your images in an article. Or if you are looking for some lightbox kinda effect, use rokbox.
