JComments Question

Post by pambesteder » Tue Oct 26, 2010 7:59 pm

I downloaded it.

I can see it in the back end. I did not make any changes to any of the set up because I wanted to see what it looked like for users.

But when I log into the site, WHERE is it that it shows up for people to make comments?

Like most extensions, I've found, the documentation is lacking in telling new users what they should see after installation.

Here's what I need to know.
When I login as a user and read an article, I cannot see where to put comments

When I am in the backend looking at the configuration for this module, WHERE do I tell it to show up in the front end?

Pam

i think u r New in joomla .

if u want to enable JComment on an Article ... just write {jcomments on} in the end of article and Save your Article... then check the Result ..
Remember ... when u install Jcomment on ur Joomla .. 2 JComments Button 1: JComment ON .... 2: JComment Off added in the end of Article Write Page . u can enable or disable Jcomment any time by Edit Article and using JComments ON or JComments OFF.

Try it and then tell me .. if still u cant understand or this is not helpfull to u .. i will tell u next time with Screen Prints .

Hi.

@pkjoom: would you be so kind and put print screens on?
I would realy apriciated that! :-[

I have installed Joomla Version 1.5.21 & latest JComments - 2.5.6

I also did this: but nothing happens:

{jcomments on} — turn on the comments
{jcomments off} — turn off the comments
After the tag is inserted in the item's text, please do not forget to press Save button and clear the Joomla's cache.

I just see on the end of the article {jcomments on}...

Best regards, Rok

If you want to get hacked do not upgrade to Joomla 1.5.24!

I mean what I said: If you want to get hacked do not upgrade to Joomla 1.5.24 which means:

Upgrade at light speed to Joomla 1.5.24 to avoid being hacked. All below Joomla 1.5.24 have serious security issues! Always keep your site updated to latest stable and secure version!

Re: JComments Question

I have found that the jcomments documentation is useless in this case... I am using joomla version 1.5.21 and the jcomments version is 2.5.6. I have installed it successfully. After I have enabled it... I still did not see any comment section on the front end.

I also follow the instruction above of adding the tag {jcomments on} at the bottom of an article, saved it.... I also cleared the cache. and refreshed my browser. In both google chrome and IE, the "tag" shows as if it is part of an article and not a module comment section.... Am I forgetting something... does Jcomments work on its own? do I have to install something else for it to work and show in the front end.

thanks again for any help

Thanks,

Re: JComments Question

Post by leolam » Sun Oct 30, 2011 6:49 am

By default, the list of categories, where the comments are turned on, should be set in administration panel of JComments. However, sometimes it is necessary to turn on the comments only in any given item of the category where the comments are turned off and vice-versa, sometimes it is necessary to turn off the comments for only one or several items of the category but allow for others. In that case the special tags of the comments' mambot can be used if they are placed somewhere in material's text:

{jcomments on} — turn on the comments
{jcomments off} — turn off the comments

After the tag is inserted in the item's text, please do not forget to press Save button and clear the Joomla's cache.
1) Did you enable the plugin in plugin manager?
2) Did you check the JComments-configuration if the settings are corcect
3) Did you take the effort to search the JComments forum?
4) Think you are clever not to upgrade to Joomla 1.5.24?
