Hi,

After many months of work, and a few broken promises, JCE 1.0.0 has finally been released.

Due to the failure of mosCE on 1.0.8 and general problems with that project that cannot be easily solved, I have rushed to release JCE. This may mean that it is not completely stable, and therefore should be treated as a beta, ie: do not install it on a production site until you have tested it and are happy with the performance. If you help me out, together we can get this project working as it should.

You can get the files here :

http://www.cellardoor.za.net/jce/index. ... n&Itemid=6

Please Note :

You must install the Admin Component first, then the Editor Mambot, and then download and install your choice of plugins using the Plugin Manager in the Admin component.

Known issues :

Apart from a couple that have come up in the last 30 minutes or so, there are some other things that I haven't been able to fix yet:

*The Advanced Link plugin does not contain the favourites feature that many may have seen in the screenshots I posted recently. There was a problem with it that I couldn't fix, so I removed this functionality.

*In order to use Image Manager popup images, you will need to download and install the mossef hack found in the Extras section of the Downloads part of the site. Uninstall the old mossef mambot and install this one (there is an explantion as to why in the download link).

*I can't guarantee support on Opera or Safari.

*The help files for som eof the plugins suck. I haven't had a lot of time to do these, they are a real rushed job.

I will post more info on the general workings of the system and on creating language packs soon.

Ryan.

REALLY IMPRESSED !!

Just a question about the mossef hack. Should i have to directly upload via ftp? Where? I know this is probably a silly question, sorry :)

Ok i did it. I was uncertain because i don't have mossef but SEF and was unsure if that was the spotted mambot. Thx.

- if i edit an article from the frontend section the editors' buttons are centered while they're left justified if the editor is opened in the site's backend section.

- languages? I think that provides translation for the editor. I can translate into italian if you want.

Is the 4th row of the editor empty? I think that is why. I will have to get a fix done for this.

You can have thousands of minutes. Thank you for this nice editor!

One question:

How can i configure the layout to be left sided? All icons are centered.

Ryan will get that fixed soon. It's a CHMOD error when creating a new folder. (for now you can always CHMOD via SSH or FTP)

Okay, I have fixed the folder permission issue, and also a bug relating to the display of icons in the Layout Manager in IE, and the problem with empty rows in the editor....but....

This is where the modular architecture of JCE falls over.

These changes require that you uninstall and reinstall both the Admin component and the mambot, which means you have to reinstall all the plugins.... :'(

The files are in the downloads section of the site now.

Ok, also another feature has changed - the paste as plain text. Before you used to get the box and it at least kept the lines in between - but not it just pastes without the popup box and it removes all the lines you have in the text,

These ISSUES are UNSOLVED after upgrading both the component and the mambot to 1.0.1.

1. when starting writing a new article the content is center justified by default.
This minor issue is interesting however. I use full justify for my articles and it will be nice if i could set a default justification in the config panel.

2. the editors' button are centered when accessing to the editor from the frontend site, while correctly left justofied when accessing from the backend.

Whishlist:

1. as i said it would be usefull if we could chose a default justification in the config panel.

2. in media manager it'll be nice if we could delete folder containing files and subfolders, after being promted of course.. I f this i s consedered too dangerous we could have an option in the config panel. If checked it activates the deletion of files and subfolders.

3. the mentioned modularity drawback could be an annoiance, not a big problem. Don't know how the plugins work in conjunction with component and mambot but you can design the main component to call as many includes as are the files in a dir called plugins. When uninstalling the component you can ask to remove the plugin folder too. When a component upgrade requires upgraded plugins too you can check it while installing the new component: if plugin folder exist then stop and tell to delete the plugin folder.
Moreover, ain't possible to install/uninstall the mambot when installing the component?
Just thoughts more than usefull suggestions :)

PS. you were so cool in staying here in the forum and quick replying to us. Not to mention the on-the-fly upgrade (unfortunately don't working, at least in my case).
Great job, great man!

PSPS. if you want an italian translation to put in the languages section... Here i am, though i prefer using english version everywhere ;)

1. im sorry but i beg to differ. i have the 1.0.1 update and 1.0.8 of joomla. and when creating a new article, the content is not center justified by default.
2. regarding the centered editor, its a template issue. if you are using 247portal, its centered. and because the template of the backend is different fromt the front end, therefore its not centered in the backend. try switching to the default site template and see that its not centered.

hope this helps.

You're definitely right. I use MadeYourWeb template and it's centered, while is left centered with RhukSolarFlair2.
Thx!

My content is centered but this is still due to my template. This is strange because if i use TinyMCE the content is left justified with the same template.
Maybe JCE should have to override some CSS. Isn't it?

Hi,

at first a great "Thank You" for this editor!

My Question:
Is there a way to change the background color of the editor? What template_css.css the editor is using? The problem is, that I have white characters on a white background.

Again thanks a lot!
Andreas

JCE looks and works OK after my little test with it so far, thank you  :D

But, how or what do I need to do to make imagemanager use Imagemagick instead of GD?
I can not find any place to change this  ???

Keep up the good work on this.
