That s everything together, not in sections .. but better than nothing

Re: section extensions for Joomla 1.6
That's your best option for finding 1.6 ready extensions. I don't believe the JED is going to have a section for extensions for version X of Joomla!

Re: section extensions for Joomla 1.6
With only 108 extensions available (and some additional ones, like Akeeba Backup, that mysteriously don't make the list), it's not that bad to search through it.
Remember you can also use the advanced search to look for a specific type of extension that's also 1.6 native.
It would be nice if the JED would have some kind of version listing, now that there are well over 6000 extensions, and now that two versions of Joomla are actively supported.

Re: section extensions for Joomla 1.6
its not hard, they can do one section in directory for all 1.6 for now, under section can be more categories, subcategories ... its one word on JED webpage
Yes today about hundred, but now I think will be every day more and more, it will be hard to search everyting
But I will find anything

Re: section extensions for Joomla 1.6
or a check box to filter extensions just to show 1.6 native only rather than different sections and categories

Re: section extensions for Joomla 1.6
Nice workaround jen4web. Works OK for now with very few extensions, but I agree with others it would benefit the community greatly to have some sort of filtering capability.

Re: section extensions for Joomla 1.6
Searching for 1.6 extensions becomes irrelevant when the extensions directory isn't updated but once every couple of weeks. Never have understood that. How many volunteers do they have for doing that? One?
I volunteered once to assist in the process but got blown off like some unwelcome outsider.
So, what's the solution to 1) searching by a 1.6 filer and 2) getting the JED updated regularly?

Re: section extensions for Joomla 1.6
Community Builder is not in the list too, despite being 1.6-native and marked as such in the entry.
Looks like the query for the list has a bug...

Re: section extensions for Joomla 1.6
My vote still continues to be with a "filter" (how hard is that to implement?) in the JED, or heck, a separate 1.6 JED sub-directory.
With 1.6 in full stable released, it would seem a culling-out of extensions is in order.
After all, "they" do that in the forums!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: section extensions for Joomla 1.6
As I understand, Joomla 1.5 will be support for another 2 years at least with fixes, and security upgrades. So there is no need and no benefit to "culling-out" before end of 1.5 life.
Specially that 1.6 has no "legacy" support for 1.5 as announced and some of the 1.5 API has been removed, making 1.5 extension not running nicely on 1.6, as was the case with the 1.0->1.5 transition.

Re: section extensions for Joomla 1.6
If I remember correctly, the JED uses Mosets. I don't think it would be a huge job to create a script that exports 1.6 extensions and then imports them into a 1.6 only area of the JED. Naturally, filtering would be also a good solution, I just don't think that mosets has that capability and I don't think it would be simple to implement.
I actually think that a 1.6 JED is more necessary now than it will be in the future. 6 months from now we can be reasonably assured that a majority of extensions, at least the most popular, will have been updated to 1.6. Right now instead planning to build any Joomla 1.6 site, unless it is a very simple one, will be hit and miss for a while as many Joomla sites don't stand so much on the CMS itself but on the extensions it supports.
I would gladly offer the community at least a lookup database where one could see the available extensions and link to them, but I wouldn't know how to make it popular enough to be useful. In other words, I could justify the time and effort but only if it became a useful tool for the community. But the offer is on the table.

Re: section extensions for Joomla 1.6
excellent ''Guru'' ... build directory for 1.6, build it fast, now you can catch visitors, bc. its beginning, if you would like to do it, you can, now its time ...
Another question is, if users will use it ... but I think here is place, look at templates directory, joomla.org does not have it. Maybe if you build good directory with joomla 1.6 extension, everybody will use it, why not ? also it good for joomla.org, less work .... more 3rd part working, less for oficial joomla
You are Welcome
Edit:
JED is really perfect, but its slowly ... you can be faster ...
I mean slowly, that some developer put extension there, he wait long time for publish it.
Fot now, when is nothing to joomla 1.6 and slowly will be some extensions, more and more, be fast its plus, bc. every new extension ... I m waiting for that.
I would like to build some website with 1.6 but now I must wait, nothing to use

Re: section extensions for Joomla 1.6
"Guru" is only because I Have been on these forums for an eternity
I think the ironic thing would be that in order to build this database I'd need to use Joomla 1.5 since Mosets tree only recently was updated to 1.5.
But it also would be a lot of work, especially keeping it updated. That's why the entire community would need to use it, the only way it would work would be by making it "self service" where each developer curates its own entry.

Re: section extensions for Joomla 1.6
Gawd! You want to offer to build a Joomla 1.6 JED look up directory.
You're doomed now. Don't think those in charge are gonna like that very much as that's their exclusive domain and bailiwick. There's enough restrictions on extensions that can be listed in the JED w/o someone creating one on there own!
May want to write your Joomla obit now!!!
You have some great tips on your websites, podcasts and feeds. Hate to see you banished to the hinterlands for encroachment, which is only a 5-yard penalty in football.
P.S. I can create a PHP/MySQL database that will accept listings if you want to host it!

Re: section extensions for Joomla 1.6
Is it possible to have special section in JOOMLA EXTENSION DIRECTORY only for 1.6 native extension ?
I think its good idea, its priority to add the newest extension to directory, that users can test it and developer can rebuild it and make stable

or

It has some bugs on search, but generally is much better than the core search or the finder. I wonder why it was replaced
