Maxi Menu CK Help

Post by sloe3d » Tue May 04, 2010 3:41 pm

Does any one know how to use the "Maxi Menu CK" extension?

I'm a new Joomla user and the instructions on the http://www.joomlack.fr.nf site don't seem to be clear to me.

I just want to be able to put in drop down menus.

The obvious first step is to download and install the Maxi Menu CK module zip file. After that, navigate to Extensions > Module Manager. If the install was successful, you would see a new module created for you, called "Maxi Menu CK for Joomla!1.5". You can open that module then edit the parameters you need (i.e. choose the menu to render in the module, horizontal or vertical orientation, mootools, etc.). Lastly, make sure the module is published.

Now comes the more difficult (but still not hard) configuration options...
http://www.joomlack.fr.nf/en/joomla-ext ... anced.html

Hopefully that page and it's screenshots will be helpful enough for you. It helped me learn how to add in the column breaks, descriptions for the menu items, etc.

One note is to use the Separator menu type when adding in the [col] column divider.

Hey guys,

I'm trying, for the life of me figure out how to set up the columns in Maximenu. His instructions are not exactly straight forward.

Basically, I have 20 links. I want 10 of them in one column, and the other 10 in the second column. I have added [cols2] to the parent item in the navbar. So when I hover my mouse over that link, the drop down appears and it's 2 columns wide. Ok, done.

Now, I need to figure out how to set the links to show up in each column, and that's where his directions are fuzzy.

I have tried to set two links as separators. Then assign each link to the correct column as child items? But that does not work.

Can someone here tell me a step by step to get the columns working.

Step 1, step 2, rinse repeat. lol. Something like that. I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Ok I figured it out.

As I mentioned above I have 20 links that I need to show up in the drop down menu.

In the parent menu (that triggers the drop down) you do the following

LINK ||LINK DESCRIPTION [cols2] (That was already working)

Then I made my 20 links and chose the parent item for these links. Then I made another link and chose Separator when selecting menu type. The name of this link is [col]. You then use the green arrows to move that separator link to where you want it to cut off what shows up in column 1 and the links under it will show up in column 2.

Kinda like this,

Parent Link
- Child Link
- Child Link
- Child Link
- [col]
- Child Link
- Child Link
- Child Link

The child links above [col] will show up in column 1, the child links below [col] will show up in column 2.
Just make sure you select separator as menu type when creating the menu item with [col] and your all set.

I hope this makes sense. But I figured it out. Hope this helps.

Thanks

@arxaingo what does not work? The entire menu? or a feature of the menu, like multiple columns, loading a module. I can try to help but I need to know what's not working.

Let me know, and I'll provide as much help as I can.

Thanks

I'm having lot of problems too with Maxi Menu CK. Let's see if anyone can help me.

(This is tested in JL15 and JL16).

What i want to do is a expandable horizontal menu in the left column of my page with nice effects so i suppose this module can make this for vertical drop down menus and horizontal ones.

I do the following:

I have a clean install of JL with defaults themes. I install Maxi Menu CK module and no problem. I go to module manager, publish the maxi menu CK module. Edit the settings and choose what menu i want to display and the position for this module.

Until here, all works, the menu is displayed where i want, but the thing i get is a normal menu, without any special effect. See this image for better explanation.

Image
Image

I really don't know why i don't get any "special" menu with this module. It shows like load the default module "mainmenu". Is like the javascript or mootools not working or something like that but i think Joomla have mootools installed by default.

I'm running all this in local with easyphp.

Any help please?

F***ck! shadabi i think you were right, the problem was the webserver (easyphp). For god knows what, it has problems with javascript or mootools or something. Tested in another server seems to work.

And now, another question:

where can i change the color scheme of the maxi menu?

Thanks

Hello all,

Unfortunately, this extension is no longer available at the moment. The website joomlack.fr is down, and it has been removed from the extension section.

Would someone be so kind as to send me the file ?

Many thanks for help!

Hi,
New to Joomla, and I just starting using maxi menu CK, and I've searched the forum for advice on changing the CSS. (Even bought the documentation!) But the changes I make in my CSS (template_css.css) aren't having any effect. Am I changing the wrong CSS file?

Any help would be hugely appreciated!
Liz

Hi Guys,

To modify the look and feel for you menu you will have to edit the files maximenuH_CK.php or maximenuV_CK.php depending on if you are using a horizontal or verticle menu system. Yes it is a php file but dont worry its just a handler that inputs the CSS from the file itself...if you view it in code view it will all make sense.

I hope this helps.

Aaaaarh!
I don't consider myself a total noob, but I cannot for the life of me understand why I cannot configure this module!?!?

It is installed on my new Joomla 1.6 installation, and shows up nicely in the module manager, where I can publish it just fine.
However, there are no parameters AT ALL for me to play with.. What am I missing??
Where are the parameters??
;)

Parameters are there for other modules.
Which leads me to think that I am just looking in the wrong place in order to actually make mainMenuCK display a menu.

I have taken a second screenshot of the menu that I would like to make work with MainMenuCK.

I was just looking at the documentation on the website, where it states that the administration of the module is where you give the module the parameters of which menu to display.
However these seem to be lost for me.

I am uninstalling and installing the new version (5.7) to see if that should do the magic trick..

I get some errormessage on install and uninstall - but unfortunately it only flashes short. too short to read or at least Ctrl+C...

It reads something of "missing JPATH" in line 74 and 76 of some file.... Any idea?

I have reviewed the link that jherrin posted. The description for adding the title are not clear to me. When I mouse over the root menu, the drop down appears correct for the number of lines, but it is just black; no links, no titles, nothing. Where do I need to enter these titles? Menu Item title and link title under link options are filled in.

Thanks.

the titles link in the menu are the same as the menu items title in your menu manager. If you don't see them, you have an issue that may come from your template. Try a native template to see if it works

Hi Again

I now have a "new" problem with my Joomla 1.6 use of maximenuCK.
Essentially the menu works just fine.
Except when I am trying to use an image in the menu.
The menu does not resize to fit the image.

When I put in a module, the "container" that holds the module is expanded, however the same is not true for an image.
The "container" for the image is only 27px high.

Example on the production site:
joomla.ksvolley.dk
(my danish volleyball clubs attempt at a redesign..)
The container of the login module is displayed just fine but the container of the image of an angel on an orange cloud (den orange sky) is only 27px high.

How do I control this height??

hi
this is a little bug coming from html/css behavior. If you put some link under the image, then the container will expand correctly.

Thanks for helping, but that did not seem to correct the error..
The container doubled in size, as I would expect it to do. But the image is in the same place and is actually placed over the new link.
