Running 1.5.23, and Tiny MCE. If I add an empty pair of paragraph tags, when the change is applied and viewed, the front end shows a '?' on that line, even though there is no '?' showing in either the editor or the HTML code. If I then go back into the editor and view the HTML code, the '?' now appears. If it is deleted and the change applied, the '?' reappears on the front end page.

This behaviour has only started in the last few days and is very frustrating.

Any ideas, please?

In case it helps, one suggestion is 'This is something to do with the code and configuration of site like char set, database collation etc.'

I do not see why this should have changed in the last week, but is anyone able to shed any light on this, what the settings should be and how they are changed?

Hello sirlord,

I have the same Problem with joomla 2.5.4. It is running on a Domainmasters webspace and I installed it through the Softaculous tool that is on there.

Another thing that is weird, is that on some pages the questionmarks will appear but on others they won't. Also, I have not changed anything about the server's configuration.

Did you find out how to get your site fixed?

Does anybody else have any tips or suggestions?

//Edit: I solved the problem by replacing empty paragraph tags with breaks (shift+return) und filling empty cells in tables with a space character.
