This is an extension I miss with 1.6 too, it was handy to give to clients to allow them to easily add certain types of typography. Hopefully somebody will get it sorted :D

Got XTypo working in Joomla 1.6! :D
Since this is the first plug-in I have converted to Joomla 1.6, I am not sure exactly why it is working.
Used this as a learning experience and still need to figure-out some things.
But it seems to be working fine.

I set aside this plug-in about 2 months ago with the intention of converting it to J1.6.
Your posts reminded me about it.

Also intend to improve the plug-in with some new features.
- Have already improved the interface quite a bit
- Have already added a number of higher quality icons in different (larger) sizes
- About half-way through adding full language support

May add a few more types of tags.
- definitely going to try to add a CSS Tool-tip
- definitely going to add more box styles
- and I have a few other ideas . . .

Perhaps you can help me improve the plug-in by answering a few questions.

Which tags do you (or your clients) use now?

Which tags do you not use now, and never will?

What features would you like to see added?
(or removed)

Hi,
Great, finally someone who can help :)

1. For now are used these tags:
Rounded Corner Tag
Button Tag
{xtypo_alert}
{xtypo_quote}
{xtypo_warning}
{xtypo_info}

2. not using, and possible never will
{xtypo_sticky}
{xtypo_feed}
{xtypo_download}
{xtypo_quote_left}
{xtypo_quote_right}

Personally im not using, but mby someone will :)

3. This Future would be great
In j1.5 i used this plugin, mby can add tags from it, as devs told that wont make one for j1.6:
DigiStyle - makes rounded boxes for images.
http://www.uwix.nl/download-digistyle?lang=nl
demo img: http://joomtemp.org.ua/raschireniyajoom ... style.html

Best regards,
G

Thanks for the feedback.
As I suspected we share some of the same tags that we find useful.
And we differ on others.
Some tags I do not see when anyone would use them (i.e. download notice, feed notice).
But maybe someone else does use them.
For my own use on B2B websites various types of call-out boxes are the most useful.

To anyone: If you use XTypo please post your answers to these questions.

Regarding the DigiStyle plug-in styles, it uses JQuery JavaScript to create the effects.
XTypo is currently CSS only and I think it is best to keep it that way.
In my mind I am trying to balance new features against the existing simplicity.

I am already adding CSS3 rounded corners styles for some new boxes and tags styles.
It is also possible to do drop-shadows with CSS3 (or images), so I plan on adding that too.

The tags I know my clients use in order of importance are.
Quote
Rounded Corners
alert
Info
Warning

Tags they don't use and probably never will are

Feed
Downloads
Quote left + right
Sticky

One of the other plugins they also use is a templating one. It puts a button in the editor (underneath with read more and images) which has a list of pre made inserts so clients just click on one and it inserts the tag, they then just change the content within the tag. I can't remember the name of the plugin right now and I'm not at a PC but if something like that could be added to xtypo 1.6 that would be great!

I look forward to seeing your results, if you need any help testing or something just drop me a line.

. . .

If you could find out for sure exactly what that plug-in is that would really help.
I have been looking at different editor-button plug-ins for ideas.
Adding more and different styles has made naming them (or the tags) far more complex.
Therefore I would like to add an editor-button plug-in to make it easy to insert tags.
But I have not found anything yet that I can modify or use as a template.
So I would like to look at the plug-in you mention.

My fantasy is the client could just highlight the text, and select a tag with the editor-button.
Click save and they are done.
There was an editor-button available for XTypo for Joomla 1.0.
Quite a few users asked about one for J1.5, but it never happened.

Have worked on this on-and-off over the last few days and now have a pretty good idea on what styles I want to add.
Now thinking about if there are ways to improve how the code is actually entered in the page.
And due to another project probably going to have to make a J1.5 version too.

As usual, juggling this and five other things.
:)

EDIT: . . . hmmm . . . the EasyTemplate editor-button can be used to insert snippets, but that also has a component.
Is that the one you are thinking of?

The component with editor button was called easytemplate. There was then an xtypo plugin. I downloaded it quite some time ago and I don't think it's actually available any more.

I wonder if there is a simple way to highlight text and have it automatically copy and insert it into the tags when clicked within the editor button menu. It must be possible :D

No, it did not work at all with Joomla 1.7 (white screen of death).
I actually installed Joomla 1.7 for the first time today to test this.

Have not been using Joomla 1.6/1.7 for anything yet except some testing.
So this plug-in has not been a priority.
Made some more changes to the plug-in today and it appears to be working in J1.7 now.
But this plug-in is quite a mess in my mind and I would not release it like this.

My free-time attention has been focused on some media-related J1.5 modules (and still is).

I started the migration process for THE site :)

I really feel so strange not having XTypo in 1.6.

Any news on progress?!

Thank you for your time and patience.

Conversion project was halted in any case due to JoomFish.

Thank you!

Just checked! Indeed!

I'm making an inventory for migration 1.5 to 2.5 and this is a good piece to add to my correspondence table.

Thank you Ken, kind regards
