I don't quite understand the statement "Template Design Documentation Feedback", compass.
Can i have my wish granted on the design documentation?
Do users have the right to suggest?
Correct me if i am wrong.

hang on a sec, give a a few minutes here..... ;)

http://www.compassdesigns.net/resources ... -tutorial/

There you go...

Now we need a favor of the Templates forum:

This is a PREVIEW of the documentation. Its being linked so that those of you here at the template board can provide feedback. There will be a review period of about 1 week and then the guide will be copied to joomla.org.

Please use THIS thread to post your feedback, flames and comments!

Very, very nice, but check out the layout on Page 7:

http://www.compassdesigns.net/resources ... n-guide/6/

As I posted (and none seems to care) there's an ISSUE with the TOC:

http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,45756.0.html

Maybe you could do/tell something about this.  ;)

I notice a little typo on page 4 of 11 :: http://www.compassdesigns.net/resources ... n-guide/4/
Quote:
Web standards put into place a common set of "rules" for all web browsers to use to show a web page. The main organization pushing these standards is the World Wide Web Consortium (WC3), whose Director, Tim Berners-Lee has the distinction of actually inventing the world wide web in 1989.

which should be:

Definately in the uber-cool category. Very well laid out and informative. And it's exactly what I've been looking for on creating a template for my site. I've got it bookmarked and ready to go when I have the chance next to work on it.

A couple of things.
Page 5 - http://www.compassdesigns.net/resources ... n-guide/5/
In the listing for the customize.css - you have paddin where it should be padding.

Also, the code blocks where the sample php & css is spaces out very badly in FireFox. I checked it in IE and it looks normal in IE.

Great content. Too bad I didn't have this when I started! I must agree on all the extra line breaks though, very distracting  :(

Great tutorial !, I read it in 2 days, this one plus joomlart.com does the trick.

Hardly you will need another tuto to start "templating".

lol ! My speech looks TV advertising  ;D

I mean, both tutorials/sites are enough to start doing templates.

Because normally we waste a lot of time looking for goods tutos, and saving a lot of outdated/unnecessary  stuff.

About the word, Ill teach you, template is a new verb :

I template
You template
....

So "templating" is the gerund/past participle.

Cheers
Lars

Oh my God!  Who wrote this?!?  It is absolutely WONDERFUL.  I hope and pray they make this part of the Joomla documentation.  Perhaps even make it part of the download of Joomla.  Stick it in the templates directory so everyone gets it when they download Joomla.

I wish I had this when I first started working with Joomla.  I read through it during my lunch break and it is a wonderful explanation and walk through Joomla templating.  Hats off to all that were involved in making it.

Hello! I've loved reading this tutorial too, it contains a wealth of info! Layout and spelling don't seem perfect (seperate or separate? page numbers?) but  content counts 10000x more than appeareance. Thank you very much for it!
What I'd be really interested in: is it possible to not only create custom css for modules/menus, but also for individual menu-items? I'd like to assign individual pictures to menu items. I'd appreciate a note here http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,113092.0.html, if someone knows where I can read up on this.
cheers
ch
ps if you ever are in Zurich I'll invite you for a beer (we can still donate one to joomla afterwards :)
