Yes, I did it and got Unpublished in cpanel

After much ado looking into the functioning of the module, I figured that there is nothing innately wrong with any of the modules. It is simply some security measure whether host server or browser that prevents php or any script from accessing feeds. I think that it is a cross-browser security measure to prevent hacking.

So, because my client browser still accesses feeds directly I created a simple module called TabFeed mod_tabfeed (basically a cut-down mod_feed) to solve the problem. Take a look at:
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... JmZWVkIjt9

If you download the file follow the README.pdf for administrator fix.

It might be enough for one or two people.

Ed.

I just installed joomla version 1.5.22 and I stil have the issue.

First line in pink color: Error loading feed data.
Second line in light blue color: Error. Feed not retrieved.

I tried all the suggestion here but could not overcome the issue.
I have not installed the RSS mod yet as I wanted to keep it.

My server is running behind a proxy server. With the given feed I have no issue access via web broswer.

Any other solution or fix.

Try enabling Web Services in the Global Configuration settings , may or may not help. Are you on a Host or local server? Some Host sites block the port the Security mod uses. Try enabling the FTP Layer in the GC settings and test.

I have enabled the Web Services in the Global Configuration settings , still it does not work. Joomla is installed on a local server as the host.

When enabling FTP where should it be pointed too?

I am running Joomla on windows 2003, my sql 5x. There is a proxy server in between before reaching WAN or Internet.

Which port should be allowed ?

I don't think you can get the Security RSS feed working on a local server. I think the problem is that your ISP blocks the port the RSS uses, don't remember the exact number but I think it was 500 something. If you want your site to be accessible from the Internet you need to open port 80 to your server.

I used to have the same error loading feed data.

It is due to feeds. So, my solution is disabling all modules that belong to "mod_feed" type both in Site and Administrator settings. I am sure it will work with you.

I also encountered with this error problem but it was in sample site. I tried to get access to administrator backend for security newsfeed module but not anywhere to find.

so I though this was not about that. So I looked for every modules which were requiring RSS feeds functions in front end-site. Finally it's a tweet module that caused this problem. Then I disabled it.

But strange was that this tweet module was set in the bottom but the error msg showed on the top section of my site. Anyway, disable it and all was fine now.

it's not a bug, you just need to disable the 'Joomla! Security Newsfeed' module

Becsuse this module load feed data with link http://feeds.joomla.org/JoomlaSecurityNews,
this link is broken, so it pop up a error loading feed data error.

Good Luck.

Thank you very much. :D

I've been running a Joomla v1.5.22-23 box for a couple of months now, and today was the first time I've seen this message!

The above "fix" worked, and I would like to say, "Thanks!".

However... What exactly did the Joomla Security News Feed do?

Worked perfectly for v1.5.23.
Thanks.

Went on a search to solve this problem, found this thread. The post that is very explicit is from 151854140. Love the name LOL. I just did this, and it's now fine: Extensions=>Module Manager=>'Administrator' tab and disable 'Joomla! Security Newsfeed' module.

Thank you!!!

hi,
I have seen this question several times before, but no answer:

Why can't I see a "Joomla Security Newsfeed" module in the administrator tab of my module manager?
Joomla! 1.5.20 Stable

thank you!

p.s. there was a post on this forum a while back where an image was posted as an answer. the image is no longer available.

The module has not been added yet. The Security module is added to the admin section if you install the sample data or your template has added it. You can add the Security module to your admin section by adding a new module in the module manager.

In the Module Manager select Administrator tab then New. Select Feed Display then use this url
http://feeds.joomla.org/JoomlaSecurityNews
set position to cpanel and set title as "Joomla! Security Newsfeed". Set Feed Description to No and Items to 1. Set as Enabled and save.

I did not have a cache setting or security newsfeeds as many have suggested
When I uninstalled mod_yoo_tweet the message went away
i will let you know if I have any other issues without this module

THANKS!

However, I am .com/2011/12/ahmed-noer.html]Ahmed Noer, on a production site which would be online practically full time then the error should not appear thus negating the need to suppress the error.

Look ...
1. Go to page administrator
2. Go to Extensions, then click on the module manager
3. Then select the pages / tabs administrator
4. Find a module "Joomla! Security Newsfeed"
5. Then disable the module

Hi, I found another solution.

I couldn't find "Joomla! Security Newsfeed" on Module manager > administrator and module mod_feed was not used/active at all. So I choose article > option, I saw "Hits" set to "show", then I set to hide. And it's solved.

I use joomla! legacy 1.0, btw.

Found the problem on my site...

Also had it on the homepage as error message but I disabled "mod_yoo_tweet" and it worked.

FYI, Yoo Tweet no longer works with the latest Twitter API, and its replacement widget is only for Joomla! 2.5. So if you're still on 1.5, you have to disable it and replace it with a different module.
I recommend Twitter Feed by Gamma Blue. Dead simple to install and modify, and pretty much the same sort of settings - add a Twitter name, and it works. Can add hash tags if you want to narrow it down to specific subject searches. (Hint - DON'T add the actual hash tag, just the word itself...) Or leave the name blank and just get hash tag subjects tweeted by anyone.
Other thing to know - the Twitter API only returns recent tweets (they say max 6-9 days old). So if nothing is showing up, check that there are recent tweets to display.
HTH.
