Edit Article from Front End not working? user group issue?
I am having issues with the article edit button from front end.
It shows up only for super users. Is this supposed to work for other user groups?
Or do I need to change anything about permissions?
I looked in global configurations and also article manager options and all permissions, is there any other place I should look at?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much

What groups do you want to assigned the edit permission to, other than super users.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply
I would like to set a custom group for front end editing.
It would also be helpful if I could get the default groups like "author" and "publisher" to work with front end article editing.
Any idea?
Thank you very much.

For Author and Publisher set the permissions in Article Permissions to allowed. Then you need to create your new group in User Manager: User Groups. Once that is accomplished go back to Article Permissions and set the permissions for the newly created group to allowed. Let me know if that works, if not we will continue to work the problem.

Thanks for the suggestion but that's exactly what I did
Besides both author and publisher are set by default to "allowed" on the edit permission of the article manager.
Do you know if there is anything else to set?

Ok, did you check the calculated settings and make sure that it is set to Allowed and not set to Not Allowed? Ref: Below
Allowed means that the group being edited will be able to take this action for this article (but if this is in conflict with the global configuration, parent group or category it will have no impact; a conflict will be indicated by Not Allowed (Locked) under Calculated Settings).

Sorry I could not help, but I set the edit permission for the Beginners article for registered users to allowed and here are the resulting screenshots for my site.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

You'll notice the edit icon in the lower right corner of the second screenshot.

I am also having this problem - only super-users are getting the edit icon. Have switched templates, have allowed more settings (all edit settings) for author (also switched from manager user group to author user group), all to no avail.
Found another thread with what seems to be this very same problem http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f ... 6#p2608096 although it is not yet answered there either.
Will continue experimenting to find a solution other than making the author user a super user and will report back if having any luck.

I could be wrong but gives Pervane in the wrong place.
Access rights to edit, you can change at several levels:
Best serve them in one place
- For groups of users:> Global Configuration> Permission Settings: Users Group
Provided that before a user is assigned to the appropriate group:
- User Manager: Viewing Access Levels:
If you belong to two different groups. In one group has the right to edit and edit the other group rights is prohibited in all this will have no rights to edit the article. (Plus Minus = minus)
In special cases, you can also change the article at:
- Article Manager: Edit Article: Article Permissions
( You probably just change the law here and it's not a good level.)
or for all Front End Permissions:
http://docs.joomla.org/Access_Control_L ... ermissions
Can Make sure you are well-formed group have permissions in the group.
In this graph is very important in order to build power (to understand his error) to finally achieve the required premissions.

If I misunderstood your problem sorry.
